Fantastic food and wonderful staff. Was passing through with family. An employee at the local Super 8, recommended this place as one of the best places to eat in town.

They have a huge variety on their menu with decent prices. Their staff, especially our waitress were very nice and attentive. Our waitress was very patient and accommodating with our huge group.

Pretty much with each of us tried you literally can not go wrong and there deserts are good too. They have a mean strawberry shortcake!

If you're passing through this little town you definitely want to try this place

One of our favorite restaurants! Homestyle cooking with a homestyle feel. Coffee is always good. Staff is nice and restaurant is always clean. Theme and decor is 1950's style, along with music.

Nice breakfast stop. Prices are reasonable and the amount of food is about right. The server I had was attentive and friendly. If you want something other than a chain I would recommend stopping here.

We showed up 20 minutes before close. They had someone at the doors who told us they were closing and wouldn’t allow us in. Not happy as I have grown up in Ottawa and have enjoyed plenty of meals there. Very disappointed. Expected better

Wow! We use to come here quite frequently but it got pricy and the quality wasn't that good. Has it changed! The food is so much better! Biscuits and gravy, fluffy, burger not frozen variety anymore. AWESOME!

Excellent service with Kim as always. My dad is almost 92 and has been coming to the 56 Family Restaunt for breakfast for 10 years. We live in Wellsville and really enjoy the food and service.

A good casual family oriented diner. They are there for both the travelers and locals alike. The menu has a good variety at good prices.

If you have diet issues to work with they bend over backwards to work with you.

My daughter and her family live in Ottawa and Old 56 has been a must stop place for breakfast when I visit. In the 12 years I have dined here, I have never had a bad experience. Great food and friendly staff!

I was VERY VERY pleasantly surprised! To start out, our waitress Jasmine was extremely pleasant, friendly, personable, great attitude, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. My husband has had 5 back surgeries and she wanted to be sure he was comfortable with our seating and she even waited until he sat down to make sure he was comfortable.

The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We both ordered breakfast and the biscuits and gravy were great. The hash browns, bacon, and eggs were perfectly cookedso thanks to the chef!

We are DEFINITELY coming backsoon!

Food was okay, it came out pretty fast but only because the hashbrown and my French toast was cold so it must of been sitting there for an hour or so. Only thing hot was my coffee.

This is the best place in Ottawa to eat especially breakfast. It's not exactly inexpensive but they do have daily specials there are always very good.

Their food was mediocre, definitely nothing to write home about. I will say the food came out fast, the reason try got 3 stars instead of two. I went to go wash my hands after ordering and when I returned the food was out. I was happy with the service, the were quick and friendly. Only thing I believe was homemade was the salad dressing on my wife's salad, everything else seemed eerily close to boxed and dehydrated.

I came in saturday morning before heading to a car show. I saw the reviews and generally take them with a grain of salt.

Unfortunately the food wasnt very good. Over easy eggs came out fully cooked and poached. My friend ordered the steak medium rare. Got it medium well. With absolutely no pink to it. Another ordered an omlete. That was done wrong too. Apparently the cook was working the nightshift so they used the dishwasher instead.

We forewent sunday morning there and did hardees. It comes out as asked.
