Simply superb! They have a large menu and everything I've had there was fantastic. It really isn't your regular diner food, they put a lot of thought in their dishes! I would recommend the Leprechaun bites because it treats with the most delicious baked goods. The portions are super large too, you won't be hungry soon after.

Featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and dives this place iks the best old school diner car. Resurrected from the ashes of a major fire this is a must not miss for breakfast. O'Rourkes offers the best homemade corned beef hash in the area. Staff is polite and friendly and you a greeted with baked fresh daily Irish soda bread. This place is popular so expect a wait, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, but don't let that deter you! Stop in for a bite and you will return.

I go for soup each Friday with my sister. She comes down from West Hartford and I drive up from Essex. The soups are wonderful. Often it is the kind of thing that has been added to all week. We find the staff warm and helpful, and Brian is a treasure. It is a very special place.

BEST BREAKFAST I have had in a longtime! Everything was exceptionally good! The menu was amazing. They're menu is not like other diners. :)

This was one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had. After waiting 20 minutes to get a table we waited another 50 for our food. I ordered eggs and hash, which came to me cold. The hash was particularly disappointing, a vinegary mush not resembling any foods I know of. The eggs were not seasoned at all and the home fries were quite cold inside and underdone. My brother got the "omelette of my dreams", which came with a disturbing gray paste inside, the onions and mushrooms perhaps? No one came to check on us after we got our food so we just left ASAP after paying. You too can have this experience for $30.

Fantastic place! Had a great conversation with Brian while enjoying a delicious breakfast. It's easy to see his love and passion for cooking and the wholesome ingredients. Will definitely be going again!

O"ROURKE'S DINNER: Has been around since 1941 and to my knowledge it has always had a good reputation for it's food and coffee. When I was there a few years back for me, being on a fixed income, it was rather pricey but I do have to say that the food was well prepared and served. If one wants fine dining a very good place to eat.

Wow, I was impressed! I've lived in Middletown over 10 years and have never been to O'rourkes but have heard great things. A friend invited me today and we went.
I didn't mind the seating and it was prompt. The food took time but I expect that because I know it will be a hot and fresh dish. The breakfast was #awesome. Kudos to the cook(s)!!! My friend even asked how I was feeling and I replied "satisfied" : )
I will definitely have breakfast here on a Sunday again.response / report this review -

I love this place and everyone that works here - but the food takes so long to come out. More importantly, the chef kept shouting and making unpleasant remarks about some mistakes in the order. I could hear her complaints so clearly from where I was sitting and it was making the other customers really uncomfortable.

I enjoy O'Rourke's every time I go. They've got great service, and there are some really creative dishes, like the Dubliner, as well as regular breakfast classics like plain old eggs and pancakes.

The food is one of a kind awesome. The hamburgers are excellent and the coleslaw is great-I ate all of it, even though I hate coleslaw. The French toast is wonderful. Be advised that it's only open for breakfast and lunch.

You are in for a special experience when coming here. We always order at least 1 "Brian's Special" why, well because the owner Brian makes it & you never know what kind of heaven he is going to make for you - just for you, no 2 plates are the same! You come here & your treated like family. I walked in today & Brian himself came over with a hug & a plate of treats & said welcome home! Enjoy your time here & make sure you plan on coming back again!

Classic American Diner with a lot of care into their food! Eggs benny were awesome and the plate of various fresh bread and campfire coffee made the experience even better. I've heard you can ask for the Chef's breakfast when the owner/head chef is in and get an amazing treat. Will have to come back again for that!
