Decent but not fancy. For the price I think it's fine but don't expect fancy. Staff was very nice checking in etc. Would stay again.
Think twice before booking at these motels!! Northwinds, Bells Melody, and Sunrise Motel. All owned by one owner. We have stayed in these motels many years with "previous" GREAT owners. VERY sad they sold.
The NEW 2017 owner is a nasty person.
VERY POOR service. They have no respect for the people who keep their business going.
You are not able to understand their forgeign accent so they can't get your reservations correct.
Just saying. think TWICE!!
Terrible. Spiders and flying insects will be in your room. Room 11 is the worst. No swing, no free fire wood, as advertised. 1 door handle lock to secure room. Sliding glass door is a joke as well as sliding screen door with broken handle, that leads to the private deck. Broke outdoor chairs are spider filled. Only positive thing is it's on the beach.
I really enjoy the place when it was a mom and pop hotel. They knew us by name which was supprising since we stay there once a year for a few days. The new owners(?) are trying their best here while running several other hotels along the area. At least they are keeping the free breakfast.
I've stayed here several times over the years (my go to motel in Mack) and I've never had a bad visit. If all you need is somewhere to sleep/shower, there's no reason to overpay somewhere else. They have a nice beach (but rocky) and a gorgeous view, with a grill you can use and you can also make a bonfire @ the beach-which is awesome!
So pleasantly surprised!! Found deal on Hot Deal and was lucky enough to get Northwinds Motel! Cabin-like rooms were very clean and nice king-size bed. But the best point is the pristine private beach where you can enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets! Also nice, big fire pits (with firewood piled closeby) to enjoy the beautiful beautiful view of the litup Mackinaw Bridge at night as well as the stars. Now need to think of reason to return, Lol ;-)
All is well, except there was a hair in the shower and the pool has too much chlorine in it.
Very clean hotel and a great beach. Also has two nice areas for grilling and picnics/lounging. Nice view of bridge and only a 5 minute bike ride to down town. A nice major trail right across the street that takes you to Cheboygen or Petoskey. It's packed dirt/fine rock, easy for the avid cyclocrosser/hybrid cyclist.
Not bad for a motel. Staff is friendly. Bathroom is clean, but toilets clog easily and there is no plunger in the room, so you have to ask staff to find one. Rooms are clean and bedding is nice and soft, 2 pillows per bed. Free breakfast is bagels, gravy, and cereal with coffee, juice, and black tea to drink. Beautiful beach view of the lake, very clear water for swimming and the sand is soft. Nice swings and propane grills and picnic tables. Rooms are key locked. Its very nice for a motel, just disappointed by the bathrooms. But not bad!
