I like the YMCA because they have a pool for younger kids, older kids and a deeper pool to do laps and swim lessons. They also have a water slide. They have a gym to play basketball and an exercise area for adults. Older kids about ages 6 and up can go with their parents to the exercise area. They have a locker room for men, women and families. I didn't give it 5 stars because the pool water is a little cold and I wish they had a private changing room in the men and women's locker rooms so there was privacy.

Good facility. Wish they did not charge out of town Y members $5/visit when most other Y locations allow a certain number of free visits. Not a bad deal still, but wish they'd just get rid of it.

Unfortunately, I felt like just a number to the membership people. They had set phrases, set routines and a take it or leave it attitude. Of all places, I thought I would be more accepted here but that wasn't the case. It's too bad because I really wanted my daughter to become part of the swim team and was ready to give them my money and my support. Very disappointed.

It is unfortunate that such a noble facility is tarnished by the attitude of some young people working there. Recently at the North Oakland facility the aquatic coordinator started cleaning with a hose the walls and the floor in the swimming pool area at 1:15pm while people were in the area. The force of the water was splashing on me and others sending whatever debris on us. When we complained she very rudely said that this was the best time for her to do it. If that was the case she should have closed the pool area before cleaning or do the cleaning before pool opens or after it closes. I hope management follows up on this.
