We stopped for breakfast before attending a function at the event center across the street. I was very impressed with this restaurant in every aspect. The service was great and the food was delicious! It wasn't near as pricey as I would have expected it to be, which is always a plus! I will definitely be back if I ever have the opportunity!
We are here for the first time and both had steaks. They were delicious as was the big salad bar. Prices were incredibly low. Not many people seemed to be having cocktails, but my husband ordered one and he said it was very good. We were too full for pie, but the selection was huge and you could get pie to go.
We stopped while traveling and had a great comfort food meal of Swiss steak and fried chicken. All was delicious. I recognized the Mullen’s French dressing flavor from my childhood in the area. Others were enjoying a late breakfast, served all day. The large salad bar also looked inviting. All prices were reasonable. Becky was a very friendly and efficient server who has worked there over 30 years! A display case of homemade goodies called to me so we have two pieces of coconut pie for later!
Always get the same thing every time! They never disappoint. Deb is one of the best servers you have! I look forward to my meal every time we go! Always leave with a smile on my face. Oh, never take country fried steak and eggs off your menu, or I will quit coming! Lol!
This place is one of my favorite places to eat in Effingham. Food is always great. They have great diner style food too. You can get a great steak or fried chicken. They have really good staff. They are always helpful, kind, and courteous. There is sometimes a wait on weekend evening meal time but we'll worth the wait. I would recommend this place to anyone. And they serve breakfast toovery good.
Food is good, the steak is ok. The homemade pies are amazing. There prices are low. Couldn't believe how inexpensive this place was. Our server was awesome kept my coffee cup full and even gave me one to go.
The staff was nice but the food was really unimpressive. We were exhausted from being on the road and having spent the day at the St Louis Zoo we were on our way home when we stopped for a very late dinner. Both my wife and I had mashed potatoes that looked like they had sat and gotten that dried out look to them. My prime rib was cold and her steak was overcooked. At this point of the day we were far too weary to complain as it was edible and we just wanted to get home with our kids. All in all, not worth the money we paid and had circumstances been different we would have made the effort to improve our own experience.
I've been here a few times before this.
Unfortunately they have no Birthday specials.
But to order a lunch special that should take 10 minutes or less or it's free, that took 14 minutes and both girls serving gave poor explanations and trying not to comp the meal that was less than 6$ sucked!
Then to have to go to manager myself and explain situation again sucked!
Got meal comped. But then to have both girls talking quietly at register ( I think it was about me) and then to have them walk by at least 6 times acting like I'm not there???
COME ON!!!!
Not very professional!
May not go there again. Naw definitely WON'T GO BACK.
Read several reviews for restaurants around town. We picked Niemerg's and are extremely happy we did. The food was excellent and the price was great. The dinner menu starts at 4pm and therefore the salad bar is open at this same time. I love salads and this bar had about 20 different salads, with also pudding, muffins, fresh fruit.and all the 'fixens'. The cream of chicken soup is one of the best I've ever had. Amazing this is all included in the price. The service was excellent in an extremely busy place.get there early or make reservations. When a place is this full you can bet it's got great food.
I love their salad bar but most importantly I feel like on our limited budget the prices allow us to go there for a sit down dinning experience. Service is always great. I love their medallions and chicken plate. All dinners, even kids meals come with salad bar during their dinning room hours. Call ahead to make sure the dinning room is open if you have your heart set on the salad bar. Great for big groups. They have a separate bar room and separate diner. I recommend this place.
Great food, friendly staff. Real cooking. Home baked deserts. Truck parking nearby. (@ Culver's and across street). Can even take your 10 hours after getting your belly full. The manager is awesome!
A family diner restaurant. It's more of a bang for your buck style. Husband got the strip steak that comes with a choice of soup or salad and potatoes or wild rice. He said it was kind of tough for his preference. With that said, I got the steak medallions. They were perfectly cooked to the rare side of medium rare and both he and I agreed that it was very good. The kids got chicken tender, chicken leg and hot dog. All of the kids enjoyed them.
Excellent value.
My companion was very pleased with her Filet ($13.99).
My Chicken wrap, $7 or $8 (not on online menu) was tasty but a bit overcooked also did not expect breading.
I seems they are famous for their pies.
Companion's sugar free Apple pie was excellent!
What amazed me was a 23 ounce draft Blue Moon for $4.
On another night, I had a 16 ounce pork chop. It was very tasty and tender, with (I think) house made BBQ sauce, on the side. It a little overdone for me; it would probably be just right for most people.
This was our first time visiting and super happy we stopped in! Awesome service and food at this great restaurant! One thing that got us to stop in was the reviews and that the GM takes the time to answer every review! The only thing that made me select 5 stars is that there is not an option for 10 stars! A special thanks to our server Karen P. - you were awesome!
Came here for dinner. Waitress was having an off day or maybe she was tired but she was kind of friendly.
Home style dinner was okay. The salmon was tasty. The steak was cooked exactly how we ordered but had A LOT of fat in it. Reasonable portions. Great prices!
The French Silk pie was such a disappointment though. You get a huge slice but most of it is frozen solid whipped cream. The actual pie filling wasn't smooth or silky at all. It had a rough consistency, like a cookie crumb filling.
The place was mostly clean, except for some trash under the table and in the chairs at the bar.
Disrespectful seating staff. Second time in two weeks. The owner should have a talk with those ladies. I'd suggest Sunday morning breakfast be reconsidered here.
We really like this Steakhouse. We always stop on the trip to St Louis. Awesome Salad bar and great menu items. It's always busy but they get you in pretty quickly. The have a separate dining area if you aren't interested in the salad bar. I highly recommend Niemerg's
Had a great lunch with several of my sorority sisters this weekthis place really has some very reasonable prices! Chicken fried steak was by far the best I've ever eaten and we all splurged for dessert!! The coconut cream pie was to die for!!!!! I'm from out of town, but plan to drive the 1.5 hours for a road trip sometime with my hubby to visit Niemerg's again!
Great food, and the waitress was attentive . Food was served hot and very fast. Prices are wonderful. The only reason I didn't rate it a 5 was it says they serve you a warm loaf of bread. We didn't get any. I love bread!!
