While I have fond memories of this arcade from my high school and college days, the place has not aged well.
While they have converted to a card based system, and have brought in a number of new machines - and remainder of their machines have problems. This ranges from certain arcade sticks being stiff, to entire buttons not working completely.
There's some definite tune-up and maintenance needed on these machines to get them competitive with the other arcades (even "Nickelcades") in Utah. Especially with Dave and Buster's opening up soon.
The whole point of going to a nickel arcade is to get physical nickels and having the fun of putting coins in a machine and when you win tickets to watch them stream out of the machine seeing how much you won. They have their nickels on a card and when you win tickets they get put on a card. I took my six year old and we didn't have nearly as much fun as we would have because she kept asking me how many tickets we had and I had no idea because they are on a little plastic card. We won a bunch of big prizes, one 100 tickets and we didn't get the fun of watching all of the tickets stream out of the machine. Especially little kids need the physical, tangible tickets to see how much they have won and they have a lot more fun if they do. It is super lame to have a little credit card that has your tickets on it.
Came here for a work meeting. The staff was very friendly and helpful and never let our pitcher of soda run low. The pizza was a lot better tasting than you would expect from any other arcade place. Games looked fun and laser tag was good
They added some new games and a more convenient card system. Prices for some games have gone up but playing is now faster and cleaner now that you don't have to be carrying all the nickels and tickets with you. Sometimes it gets a little too busy during evening hours, but I would recommend going either during the day or much later to avoid crowds.
Great place for family activity. We enjoyed time spent there with my wife and two sons. They provided a card to use instead of using Nickel and tickets. That was very handy. Neither nickels and tickets needed. Just the card take care of both countings. We spent 1and half hour and spent about 25 Dallas. My sons enjoyed games and rewards at last.
A fun place for kids. There are many fun games for older elementary kids, several for adults, but only a few for kindergarten age. The line was slow getting in, but most of the staff are nice. It's easy to reload money on a play card, and easy to spend a lot.
I have nothing but good things to say about Nickel city. Their employees are so nice and go above and beyond. I had to cancel a party the day before and they were willing to reschedule it and not charge me another deposit. My family and I had a great time and my son loved having his party there. Plus it's very affordable. We will definitely be going back!
Super fun little arcade! Easy to have fun for hours here with $5. Great for the whole family, any age. 4 stars because it takes FOREVER to redeem your tickets. And no one will talk to you until it's your turn so we had no idea if we were going to be helped soon or if they were just standing around ignoring us.
We always have fun going here as a family. The place is well kept up. And there are only ever a few games broken down at any given time. The laser tag arena is on the small side, but it's still very fun. Great price for an afternoon or evening of family fun. It would make for a fun date night, too.
Take yourself back to the fun of yesteryear! Classic and new games mingle in a colorful, friendly atmosphere. The staff are so fun and love their jobs. They have upgraded to cards on most machines to streamline your fun. We had a blast getting tickets and prizes with our toddlers. Very cheap to get in and you spend what you feel like spending. One of the funnest date night activities in the valley!
Super fun to go play in the old arcade! This is a budget-friendly date idea. My boyfriend and I had a lot of fun going around to all the different games and spending just a few nickels to play! You even get tickets and you get a prize at the end of the night. The prices are course cheap all little things but they're still fun.
Fun place for a date or spending time with the family. Lots of fun arcade games. Pretty cheap to get in. Like 2$ a person and you can get nickles there or bring your own. Also has pretty ok food.
Enjoyed the hour spent for 5 dollars. Nickel city is a date friendly, family friendly, and time friendly location. Don't expect to be redeeming your tickets you win for gold or expect everything to be the cleanest. This is a retro location where you go to get a hour of fun.
Recommended that you grab a portable bottle of germ-x and clean up afterwards. It old school and old school means less clean.
Four stars for cleanliness and four stars for overall satisfying experience.

My husband has been going here since he was a boy; so he was excited to take me on our date night. Everything was fun until we went to go cash in our tickets. Every 10 tickets we put in we received only five. We thought it was a fluke so we kept feeding in some tickets 10 at a time, and like clock work it shorted the amount going in by 5. That's when we heard other kids tell us they had the same thing happen to them. We had counted close to 800 in total tickets and walked away with 300. We went up to the admission counter to tell the employee and we were told someone would meet us over there. Ten minutes later and no one came. So my husband went up again and the guy just handed us a ticket and thankfully is was close enough to what we had won; so we let it go.
We then went up to the ticket counter along with one other couple. We waited about 5 minutes and a few kids came up. when the couple was done we go up to talk to him and he stops us and helps the kids first. we let that slide too until 25 minutes later after being constantly shafted from picking prizes and leaving. Finally we had enough and were about to leave when the guy from the complete other side came over to help after seeing us wait forever.
We walked out vowing to never come back again. The prices are awesome but when your tickets are getting cut in half and you have to make a big deal every time its not worth it.
Tips to management: 1. Stop ripping off your customers 2. Hire more people at least part time in the evenings when its the busiest 3. Start a line so you don't have unhappy customers waiting 30 minutes for a toy. Most important stop ripping off your loyal customers. You already have lots of people spending money there because of the cheap tokens so why do you feel the need to not fix or rig the ticket machines.
We will try again in a year our two but until then we will be going to Provo Beach.
