I've gone here a decent amount of times. Food is always good. Lots of scotch's I've not tried yet. The servers (girls) walk around in short kilts. The building is nice and they have a fire place going in back in winter. Definitely a place to try.
I came here for my 30th birthday and it was my first time. The food was excellent and loved the atmosphere. The back room with the fire place was warm and cozy. We will definitely be back!
Awesome scotch collection!!! This is a great place to find rare limited edition scotch such as Ardbeg Kelpie. If you want to learn more about scotch, try a $20 scotch sampler and choose 3 different scotches (one ounce pour each) to smell, taste, and compare. The kilt-wearing staff will gladly guide you in your quest. They do have a full service bar for those who don't care for scotch, and the pub fare food is delicious. I highly recommend the calamari and the duck fat fries.
The female server, I guess, profiled my brother and I and never served us. This happened last night in their bar. Maybe because we were wearing jeans and t-shirts and not dressed up, not sure, but we were going to a rock concert later. We flagged her down once and that was it. She never came back but walked around taking care of everyone else. We’ve both worked in the restaurant business for years and always tip big. She judged a book by it’s cover. I’ll be sure to tell this story to anyone who asks where to go get a drink in Cincinnati.
Nicholson's is a great Scottish pub in downtown Cincinnati. The staff was very friendly. I recommend the lamb burger it was very good!
Best place to get fish and chips in town. Bar has a lot of options but the last 3 times I ordered beer they were warm or the wrong drink.
I happened upon Nicholson's Tavern & Pub when walking back to my hotel the other day. This is a Scottish pub in Cincinnati, Ohio that is Scottish through and through. The bar was built in Scotland and shipped over to Cincinnati to be the center of all things Scottish inside of Nicholson's Tavern & Pub. The staff are all wearing kilts which is awesome. The food was perfect and the flavors we're authentic with my bangers and mash especially the gravy. I can't wait to come back to Cincinnati to go to Nicholson's Tavern & Pub!
Pretty good bar with a great beer and scotch selection. The food is ok. One of the better bars near fountain square.
I used to love coming here, usually on my lunch break, but first, whoever's idea it was to get rid of the pot roast poutine should be fired it was the best thing on the menu. Second why did you change your fries? the thinner duck fat fries were much better. the newer fries are terrible they are soggy and not crispy at all. Also my service last night was terrible. Probably going to be a long time before I return.
Yard house is. A. Great Place. Good. Music. River view. Get. Their. Now. Lunch, brunch. After work. Drinks. And. Fun.!! You'll Love. !
Went there for lunch. Their Duck-fat fries are pretty good. I had the blue cheese BBQ burger, and it was pretty tasty. It's not a place that I would go out of my way for, but the food was typical for a high-end pub.
The decor and feel was very impressive. I will definitely go back, but hopefully there will be a couple of pints on the order next time.
I've only ever been here one other time and the only thing I remember is not caring for the lamb burger at all. So I was happy to give it another try this evening for a rehearsal dinner.
We started with a very small but delicious salad of mixed greens, feta(?), green apple and dried cranberries. The dressing was placed on the table so you could dress it as much or as little as you liked. I usually prefer to skip the dressing completely, so I appreciated this!
We were given four choices of entrees. I went with the pork loin because the bride had mentioned how much she loved it. It came with green beans, mashed sweet potato and apple cranberry chutney. What I was most impressed with was simply the pork because it was cooked perfectly (not over cooked, still tender) and very nicely seasoned. I usually avoid getting cuts of pork because I've frequently experienced the opposite. And of course, it did taste extra lovely with the sweet chutney. But it was nice that it could hold its own. I also really enjoyed the potatoes which were very buttery and smooth!
My daughter took me to Nicholson's for my birthday. Expecting a wonderful evening we walked into a very authentic pub like atmosphere. After sitting in our booth we waited 15 minutes before our waitress appeared. ( We were one of 5 tables in the pub being served ) When our food was delivered to our table it all looked very good and we were excited to try everything. However, the duck fries were barely warm and soggy, the pork sliders the same. We both work in the food industry we know and expect our food to be served hot!!!!! The waitress being inattentive did not check on us until much later thus, the evening left us disappointed!
I would definitely recommend this restaurant, the food was excellent and the atmosphere is great. The waiter was very friendly, but he was a little behind; we ran out of water a few times. Also we had a reservation at 5pm and while we were being seated the hostess told us we would have to leave before the next reservation at 6:45. That is rude and I don't believe that we should be rushed out with a reservation made months in advance. Overall I would recommend.
