I am a massage therapist, and I stop in here for my regular massages with Terrie Dimos. She is "hands down" the best and most skilled massage therapist who has worked on me in my 12 years receiving massages. :)

i have been a patient of new directions for over 15 years. the opportunity to work with upledger trained professionals has healed my body and soul. terrie murray-dimos is a savant of the massage world. chris tappan is an excellent choice as well.

as a sports enthusiast with a clumsy nature, i have had terrie, fix my muscles, recommend techniques for stretching and provide the most amazing deep tissue work.

i even buy table time for my staff and friends. you will be very happy with their group!

Almost two years ago I was checked from behind playing ice hockey in Michigan and suffered intense neck and upper back pain. I had an MRI and they said there were quite a few things out of place. They prescribed the maximum amount of physical therapy that insurance would cover. I had 16 visits and felt some relief after each visit, but the pain would come back within 24-48 hours.

I moved to Florida about a year ago for a new position in my company. The stresses of moving alone would be enough to twist me back up in knots, but coupled with carrying two house payments and being new at my job ensured the pain would be right back in my neck and shoulders. It got so bad that I could not sleep laying down and had to take 1 hour naps sitting upright I chairs or couches.

I finally couldn’t take the pain anymore and went to a walk-in clinic on a Saturday where the doctor told me it is probably shingles. I made an appointment at my new primary care physician and she asked me to get an MRI. Once I got the MRI and the results, I made my second appointment to visit her about my neck and she prescribed seeing a neurosurgeon to get clearer options.

Between the neurosurgeon visit and seeing the primary care physician again a co-worker suggested I visit her massage gal in Winter Park. I told the primary care physician that I was going to try massage and she laughed at me and said, “Chris, this is structural. Not something you can ‘rub out’.” I had my first visit with Terrie and she knew I was in incredible pain. I had no feeling in my left thumb and pointer finger, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t turn my head any direction and my life was greatly taking a turn for the worse.

I had about three visits with Terrie and started to see improvements. I met with the neurosurgeon and he said I was really to young to start fusing C-5/C-6 and C-6/C-7 and I told him that I was seeing a massage person in Winter Park and finding relief. He was such a realist that said, “keep doing what you are doing”. Even after the fourth visit I don’t think I was giving Terrie my neck because I was protecting myself and not trusting some of the movements on the table.

These visits were not enjoyable. They were painful and somehow little by little I got the sensation back in my fingers. I started sleeping again through the night. I am off any medications and have started playing ice hockey again and feeling less and less pain. Terrie gives me homework for stretching and posture changes. The bottom line is Terrie outsmarted the physicians. Doctors more and more will point you toward surgery or drugs.

I wasn’t out “friend shopping” but certainly found a place in my heart for Terry as a friend and the best massage therapist I have ever been exposed to. She’s earned a PhD in RESULTS!

I have been a client of New Directions for the past year and a half. I have past injuries from being a former athlete and couldn't continue to live my life to the fullest without their help. If you have any body issues that need to be worked out, you MUST go see them. They are highly trained and knowledgeable professionals that will use the best techniques and equipment to get you back on track and educate you along the way. GO SEE THEM!!!!

I am a very happy client of New Directions. Go there to do more than just relax. Go there to have your long-standing muscle and back issues worked out by HIGHLY trained professionals. They will use the best techniques and equipment to move you back (or forward) toward the way you want to be and feel.

And just ask and they will give you easy exercises to do on your own that will allow you to progress even more rapidly.

In my opinion, New Directions is the best place in the Orlando area for body work that works!
