Might seem strange, but this is one of the best birding destinations in lower Michigan. Staff is very birder-friendly and you can pick up a permit any workday.

Very involved in wildlife. Love birding here, due to the high numbers of species they recieve. Good spot for ducks in the winter, and the spring. Good spot for shorebirds to migrate through. There currently is a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper over there right now, which is a VERY RARE Siberian/Asian breeder, which will sometimes migrate to western Alaska. This is the first ever Michigan state record for a harp-tailed Sandpiper, and what better place for it to be at then MWW!
