If you want the real deal of german food, I highly suggest trying this place. It also offers a unique dining experience as you are surrounded by the sounds, sights, and feelings of a German type spot. Amazing dishes, good service, can be crowded at times, but totally worth any wait.

If I could give this place six stars, I would! Wonderful ambience and serving staff, fantastic selection of beers, and a menu full of authentic food. The pork schnitzel was on point and reminded me of my trips to Germany in years gone by. Make sure to get it with a side of the potato pancakes! The sausages were savory and packed into a crisp lining! To top it all off there is a large selection of dry goods from Europe for you to take home!

Fantastic food, staff, owner and selection of tasty beers. Food is above-average compared to the surrounding restaurants in the area. Owner really works hard and makes new beer discoveries to share with all. The most friendly staff and pleasant service I've ever had in any restaurant in New Tampa. Definitely worth the drive for the potato pancakes, craft brews, Reuben Dog, Der Blue Max and much more. They have a fun little retail area with a plethora of gourmet items, including the flavored mustards that they serve on the tables. The price for most food items is $10 and below, and some of the best German food you'll ever have.

One of the best casual restaurant experiences ever!

Atmosphere: it's just like you would imagine a German theme park. You can buy German groceries, watch sports, buy German Beer (very good selection) and eat all the German food you want!

Staff: everyone was attentive and nice. They were paying attention even though it was crowded.

Food: we had the Leberkase sandwich as an appetizer. Really good. Just like in Germany!

The pork Schnitzel is incredible. It's 11 dollars and tastes fantastic. The veal Schnitzel is also great, 5 dollars more though and not really better.

All the sides were great. The pommes is incredible! The portion sizes are very generous.

Fantastic experience. My favorite place in Tampa!

I was 14 when my Mom 1st took me here when they were at the University Square Mall. A lot has changed since then but this is still a favorite place of mine but I can now enjoy the great German beer selection. This place has it all, a great selection of German brews, good German food, atmosphere and a market/deli stocked with German food and goods. Check out their Christmas market this time of year. They are now brewing their own beer but I haven't tried it yet. My only suggestion is that they need more space to properly show everything off and give customers a little elbow room. Prost!

This place features an exceptional, rotating, huge selection of craft beers. My wife and I cannot comment on the food because we're no fans of German cuisine, but every patron we've ever seen there eating seems to enjoy the food. So, the food ought to be very good, provided you like German food.

I never have a bad experience here. I come every time I visit tampa. Knowledgeable staff, great food, and the beer selection is great. Over 50 beers on tap and over 500 different bottles!?! If you aren't sure what to order. Don't worry, just ask and your server will make a perfect choice for you.

If I had their veal Reuben everyday for the rest of my life, I would never be unhappy. A+ I came here about a month ago for the first time and I am hooked with that sandwich Plus they have a great beer selection with great prices. You won't be disappointed.

The good is great, the sandwiches were very tasty and filling. Everything sat nicely in our stomach so we know the portions were perfect. The staff was very knowledgeable about their beers and was honest and upfront. They were concerned about the happiness of their clientele, not how much product they could sell. The only concern I had was that the place was very very crowded, but thats not a problem because it means that they're doing great business. We'll definitely go back!!

I have been dining here for years and the service has always been consistent. The servers are knowledgeable and the food comes as fast as one can reasonably expect when they're busy. If you haven't tried it you should! I would recommend the New Baron sandwich add tomato!

This is genuinely one of the best places I've been to in Tampa. The food is always so good, and it's great bonus that they have so many European goodies, especially kinder chocolate. I've never had an unpleasant experience here. Maybe the only drawback is sometimes when it gets VERY cramped and crowded during the busiest hours, but it's something that can be easily gone around.

I've spent my fair share of time in Germany and I can say this place is totally authentic. They have a good craft and European beer selection (they let you sample select drafts), friendly and personable service, and the best German food I've had in Florida. If you go when it's packed service can be slow, so don't go if you're in a rush. I recommend everything but currywurst, schnitzel, pierogi, and potato pancake are my favorite menu items. We keep coming back!

By far my favorite restaurant in Tampa! The food is always amazing, the servers are so helpful, not to mention the atmosphere is incredible. You can shop while you wait for your food. I'm telling you if you're considering going here DO IT NOW! I could go on and on about this place but I know people have probably stopped reading by now. It's the best German restaurant there is and is for sure top 5 best restaurants overall in the Tampa Palms/USF area.

Mr. Dunderbak's is one of the finest locations in Tampa. While not fancy this is a place for friends and family to get together and have a good time. I have never been to Germany but the food looks and tastes just like it came fresh out of the country. I've had multiple meals here and have never been disappointed. I am definitely not one for trying new and unknown things but whenever I eat here I enjoy eating the things I have never even heard of. Venison sausage with sour c\kraut is not something I would have eaten anywhere else but here it was amazing! The beer selection is huge and they have fun foods from Europe. The staff are also always very friendly and helpful with their explanations. I strongly recommend eating here!
