Not a horrible place if you're on a budget, but the rooms are dank and seems like they just pulled the covers back over the bed after the previous guests left. The woman who owns the place (and seems to have her house connected at the office) is abrasive, snappy, and downright rude. Better to go to Motel 6 or some other generic hotel rather this place.

Worst place ever to stay!!!! Please read all other review about how bad it is and believe them. I didn't and made the mistake of booking for the weekend. This place is not a place for decent family oriented people. I won't write more because everybody before me already wrote what I would write.

Management argues about giving towels, for some reason the maids "forget" to place them in rooms. Toilet paper and cups are also rationed out like gold. No breakfast or even coffee in the office or rooms. Actually even if it was provided I'd have to pass, the number of roaches is amazing. Even in broad daylight they wander about with not a care in the world, the garbage left in the room from previous renters and what's scattered in the parking lot keep them well fed. If you want every other aspect of your trip to look great just stay here There is nowhere else to go but up. This place makes the slums of Calcutta look plush. STAY AWAY FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR HEALTH ANF SANITY!!!

This is honestly the most awful place I have ever been to. The staff smelled and the front desk man had all of the doors locked because he was busy sleeping in the back so we had to wait until he decided it was time to wake up. We checked in and 30 minutes later (the time it took to take multiple trips up the broken wobbly stairs that made me fall) we decided we wanted a refund. Then the man said that the only way he could've given us a refund was if we had wanted it 5-10 minutes after we checked in and that we had "been checked in too long". We usually go cheap when getting hotels due to the fact that we don't spend a lot of time there because we are out enjoying our time. But this was too much. The bed sheets had so many stains in it I was glad we brought our own. The sheets were basically one large stain. All of the other places are far better than this one. Go down the street some more and find a better place than this failed inspection of a trashy building.

So I am here at Motel Santa Cruz. For all you who gave negative reviews, it is apparent you are not beach and surf people. I didn't come here to sit in a motel room. The room was clean and I had a place to rest my head. The staff were great and Sabrina was very welcoming. Have a feeling the negative reviews are from people who are not grateful. You wouldn't be happy with a million dollar check because it's on the wrong color paper. Going to surf and enjoy mu blessings.

Non-smoking King Room isn't a whole lot bigger than the bed, but there is a mini fridge, ancient microwave, and a small LCD TV. The AC works well, and thankfully didn't blow out a bunch of dust. Unfortunately, the toilet has a leak that leaves the floor wet outside the bathroom door. The front desk staff could have been more friendly (they were quite brusque with us at 7:30 pm) but check-in was fairly quick. Location isn't too horrible, there being a 7-11 across the street and a few restaurants within a decent walk. The Boardwalk also isn't too far off, about 30 minute walk. Thankfully, considering it's fairly close proximity to the Boardwalk, street noise wasn't noticeable from my room.

The room was adequate, but smelled distinctly of smoke. It appeared relatively clean, but the furniture was pretty banged up and the windows screens were ripped.

Not understand why such nasty reviews, guess good experiences go less reported.
Its the cheapest place i found for emergency stay. The staff helped was helpful and allowed my room to be payed for from los angeles with no hassle or issue.
I arrived really early, family there was nice and understanding my request earliest possible check in after long travel to get here. Room i was assigned was mid cleaning, so they just moved me to an other easy.
Im sure they deal with alot of rougher clientele, but be respectful and nice and they happily seem afford it in return.
Its perfect for my needs and mutch nicer than reviews lead me to beleave.
    I was releaved for sure.

Hi this is tom and Chanel Stevens from San Jose we stood at motel Santa Cruz for a few days and was very disappointed the rooms was very dirty and blankets was not fresh the smell was unbareable and to top it all off there's always homeless ppl in the parking lot that they just leave hanging out and my wife's luggage had been stolen from in the parking lot in view of a camera but the lady in charge (Sabrina) actually got mad at us for telling her what happen and told us she won't rent to us anymore ? I'm completely disappointed and wish I had spent my money else where p.s. my wife got what looks like bed bug bites from sleeping on there bed sheets we will never recomend that place to your dog it's literally the worst Motel I've ever stood too and I'm not much of a complainer but this place is very disgusting I'm not sure if there beds have fleas or bed bugs but definitely one of the two someone needs to do something about this they should be reported to the board of health

This was our 7th motel in 7 days and the worst and most expensive! There was only one small towel that was dirty. ,The linen was grey, the blanket was dirty, the sheet had a red stain on it and the cover had a hole. The room and the communal areas were dirty and tatty. No hair dryer or coffee making facilities. We have been travelling for 4+ months around the world in many different countries and this was truly the worst location we have stayed in!
