Easy hike with a scenic trail up the short trail along the valley from the upper lake parking. The path up to Gertrude’s Nose trail was a wide dirt and gravel paved road with steady incline and a few down slopes. We walked three person wide and chatted all the way. At the GN trail it changes to single file, rocky, rooted, but still well traveled trail. Cracks and crevices were inviting and intimidating to jump over near the top. But dirt and rock trails are solid. So stay on the path if you are not adventurous. We veered off a little a few times just to take gutsy pics and get a change of perspective. We took turns venturing out to take photos of each other.

One of my favorite go-to places when I need natural beauty. The 7 1/2 round trip hike to Castle Rock is fabulous, the shorter 2 mile hike around Lake Minnewaska is just as nice, and there are plenty of other trails throughout the park that I haven't even got to yet. They do collect a fee year round, so if you have a park pass, bring it.

Beautiful park. This is one of my favorite places in the world. Mountain bike, hike, walk, run, climb This park is for outdoor lovers!
Dogs are allowed in most places, add long as you have a leash.

I am impressed by how well maintained this park is. The carriage road trails are wide with compacted gravel, and very easy to walk on. The foot paths are more exciting requireing large boulder hopping and river crossings. The blazes are well marked, and there are maps everywhere to help guide you around the trails. The trails vary in distances so you can hike for as long or as little as you would like!

There's a variety of trails from easy to challenging. Not over crowdedded, with popular and isolated trails. Beautiful overlooks all around and water fronts available. Pet friendly too and good place for families/solo. Plan to come back again.

Great park. A lot of trails for all levels. Incredible vistas. Beautiful lakes and rocks. Amazing fall scenery of valleys below the ridge and Catskills around.
You can hike, bike, walk with a stroller, or just picnic there. And apparently you can do scuba diving there (I had no idea until saw signs yesterday).response / report this review -

Simple walk/hiking area. There are chances for you to see waterfalls, a lake and even do a bit of a rock scramble if you know the area. Parking is simple and on holidays they have extra staff to guide you where to go.
Can use the Empire Pass to get in for Free! If not I believe admission is $10-12response / report this review -

Gorgeous. There's an upper parking lot of you want to take the kids around the lake. There are fields, picnic tables, and swimming areas (when in season)! Great for family trips, hiking dates, meditation, art, photography, and dogs.
Bring some water and lunch. Try to use the restroom by the lower parking lot. The portapottys are terrible.response / report this review -

This is one of my favorite state parks. A good 2.5 hour drive for me but I always feel like it's a mini getaway to nature. I had not been back for a few years after my daughter was born and we finally took her this past summer to see the waterfall (A little dry during our visit but she was still impressed). It was a lot more crowded than I remember it being in the past but still a lovely visit. Great trails for endless hiking and biking with some fantastic views. In the summer you can even swim in the lakes. Hope to come back more often as my daughter gets older and easier to travel with!

Minnewaska is a wonderful place to visit. Lot of beautiful scenery along the carriage roads and footpaths. During the weekends it can get busy, so it's best to leave early to avoid traffic. Can't wait to go again to explore more. One my latest trip, I took the Castle Point trail to Lake Awosting and the Upper Awosting trail back to the parking area. Just under 10 miles. The views are worth every step.

Trails are well maintained. There is plenty to explore and great views all around. There is a nice picnic area next to the upper parking lot. And a nature center around the corner. A changing room/bathroom is located near the beach. No flush toilets.

Excellent place to spend a few hours hiking. Paved trails make it easy to walk around, even if with kids. Would recommend to anyone looking for an afternoon outdoors.

This is a beautiful park. I make it to a different New York park nearly every weekend. I grew up near Minnewaska, its an extra special type of beauty and there are lots of secrets to be found. From cliff jumping to amazing sites off the beaten path, this is worth the visit.

What an absolutely breathtaking and truly amazing place to go. So many secrets so many special hikes and trails throughout this state park. If you live near Connecticut Westchester or even parts of PA and New Jersey land highly recommend making the trip out here!
In the summer you can come and eat wild blueberries so your heart is content. In the spring this wild raspberries. A great place to swim with ice cold water. Hiking the gunk's and their cliffs are just great!
