I’ve always loved the zoo however a little bit of a change is needed to some enclosures because they’re dated. I see they’re building a new one for the elephants. I wish all the restaurants were constantly operating and not as expensive. Too pricey for average quality food. It’s better to bring your own. Overall there are plenty of animals to see and it’s very clean. Would recommend for the little ones.
We had a perfect day today at the Milwaukee Zoo! Our youngest son absolutely loved it and was amazed at all the animals he had never seen before! This is a wonderful place to enjoy a family outing and it was very educational. All the animals are very well cared for and have a safe, comfortable and enjoyable life there! We would highly recommend visiting and supporting this zoo. They have many endangered species and it is great to see they are protecting them from poaching in the wild by being in a well cared for environment at this zoo!
Year round this is a fun place to visit. Tips for planning an all day visit include bringing lunch (you can go back to your vehicle as much as you want) and making sure to wear comfy shoes. Even under poor weather there are plenty of indoor exhibits to see just make sure you have an umbrella if it's raining.
Recently moved to Milwaukee and bought a family pass for the zoo. We love it because it's not too far away and can pop in anytime for a few hours with our five kids. Split the price of the pass with my mom who also lives in Milwaukee to keep cost down and now either of us can take the kids! Animals look good and even in March the bigger animals were out and about. Not too crowded, even on family free day. Would recommend a stroller though if you have toddlers or babies it's a fair amount of walking. Looking forward to returning in the summer months.
Probably the best zoo that I have been to. Easy drive, easy parking and easy to walk around. They have great exhibits and when I was there with the kids all the animals were out so that made it even better. I would highly recommend going there if you haven't, you will have so much fun and make a day out of it. We as a family stay in downtown Milwaukee a couple times a year just to get away, makes for a really fun weekend.
I grew up going to the zoo and I love it. My biggest issue was always the lack of space the animals have but they are expanding all over. I would recommend going when it's cold because the animals are way more active. Pricing isn't bad and you can get around paying $14 for parking by parking on the other side of Bluemound in the residential areas if you don't mind a short walk. If you go more than once a year, I'd recommend the Zoo Pass.
Our family always enjoys our trips to the zoo. We have had a zoo pass for several years now, which is a treat because we never have to feel rushed to see everything when we go. It is relaxed and we just pick some things to see each time, and we always make a stop at the playground! If you've never gone during the cooler months, you must visit! It is less busy with people, and some of the animals are more active when it's cool outside. There are also many buildings, so lots of places to warm up. Pack a lunch and save cash, and bring a stroller if you have little ones, it is a big place!
Usually I don't have anything negative to say about the Milwaukee Zoo. Our last visit was a warm fall Friday. I was amazed at how many vendors and food stands were closed. Before our visit I checked the website to see what was available for lunch. I'd say 80% of what was listed was closed. We were so disappointed. I understand seasonal closures, but something this extreme surely deserves a note on the website.
World class zoo in a northerly climate. Has improved immensely in regards to animal welfare since I wad a kid, and they're still expanding it to give the captives more space. I am not a fan of zoos, because animals should be left to roam wild and not be held in captivity. But, since humans have captured or killed most of the world's animals, its nice to have a few that were injured or born in captivity still locked up for people to gawk at until they are all that's left. Yes, you can open carry firearms here as it is public land.
Great little zoo. Love the walking paths. Lots to see. They have a great Aquatic and primate exhibit. Only bad thing is that it is a little expensive. Costs like $14 for an adult and $11 per child. Car parking is $12. For a family of four it's about $60
A beautiful zoo with tons of active and beautiful animals. The layout of the park was easy to navigate and didn't feel overwhelming despite the range of exhibits. We were perhaps most impressed by the information boards on every animal - very bright, easy to read, and educational. Great place!
I like the zoo, it's a good way to spend a day. It's also a good way to spend a lot of money. $60 for two adults, two children and parking. I understand that the money goes to a good cause and it is a great zoo, and it's being improved all the time. But unless you buy a membership it's a lot to shell out. We are good for a visit once a year, so after food, drinks, a souvenir, a picture, and so on It can leave your wallet a little sore.
So get a membership, bring water, and maybe lunch, convince the kids they don't need another stuffed animal, and visit more than once a year. Again it's a great zoo!the rest rooms could use a little more attention on a hot busy day But other than that! Go take the family, have fun. Buy a wax animal from one of the mold-o-matics.
I'd say my daughter loved the zoo, but that implies that I didn't have a blast as well. It was a lot of fun for the entire family. I only wish I had more time. We spent 5 hours there and could have easily stayed another 2. My 2 year old daughter kept us at a leisurely pace -- a group with older children or adults could make it through a bit faster. We saw all of the animal exhibits except the farm area (we live in Wisconsin so that was put on the chopping block when we were running out of time). There were many activities that we could have done, some free, some paid.
Had a great day at the zoo! Fed the giraffes - awesome experience!! The place was very clean and well kept. The photos they tried to sell us feeding the giraffes were nice photos, but $24 for one picture was crazy. They offered a veriety of food and drink throughout the zoo even though we could have packed and brought in our own lunch. Will return again.
This was a great day trip to a zoo. We all had so much fun. There were a menagerie of interesting animals that I haven't seen at other zoos, and the open habitats made it feel more intimate. We got to see the Oceans of Fun show with their amazing harbor seals and see lions! Great show, the animals were interesting and full of real character (go Diego, go!). I already want to go back again to !
Always a family favorite. Exhibit buildings are getting updated. All the zoo staff are friendly and helpful. Annual membership is well worth it.
We have a pretty great zoo in Milwaukee! I definitely think the prices are outrageous. You pay a high price to get in and then pay for parking. The cost is a huge reason my family and I do not go more often.
We're on our third year of having a zoo membership here, and it's the best investment our family has made. If you see staff near the exhibit make sure to strike up a conversation, they'll tell you the inside scoop about the animals. It's always incredibly educational even for the adults. Of course we have our favorites, when it's cool the Red Pandas come out to play, and Ruth and Brittany the elephants are always up to something.
Excellent zoo with a wide range of animals. Also the zoo setting is pretty unique, situated in what looks like a forest preserve (which adds a nice dimension in the Spring and Fall). Some additional features that make this zoo unique: a kids train that runs along the perimeter, a zip line, and a gondola that takes you above the animal cages - cool!
I LOVED visiting the zoo during the fall. The foliage is absolutely beautiful. The animals were quite lively as well which was nice. We only grabbed a hot chocolate (yummy!) so we didn't spend a lot on food. The staff was very friendly and eager to answer any questions or give some fun facts. Overall a great experience!
