The management from the adoption side should be replace since there is no training in customer services you walk to the main desk and nobody guides you info or ask you if they can help. A bunch of kids behind the desk talking about their personal issues while potential owners are walking around trying to figure out what where who. Typical county employees. Replace all those kids sitting behind the desk with a computer it would be more economical and informational

The volunteers that work directly with the cats are great. However, when I finally found the kitten I wanted to adopt, and had been playing with all day, the people who work behind the desk were not friendly and slightly rude. It was my first time there and I was not told how things worked. I didn't hear my number called and when I went to go ask about where to go, the worker who was supposed to help me rolled his eyes and said fine I'll help, but you're supposed to stand around here and listen for your number. When I told them the kitten I wanted to adopt, they informed me that it was unavailable and was already adopted. When I asked why there wasn't an adopted sign on the cage they proceeded to make it seem like it was my fault for not knowing, "Sometimes people pull out the adopted sign because they think it'll better their chance, that's why you're supposed to check online to make sure" they did not apologize for the mixup or their mistake. Also, the online search is not updated like they insisted. I was their to help rescue an animal and the volunteer had allowed me to play with this kitten all day and the fact that they were unsympathetic to what happened made me not want to go back another weekend.

I adopted a gorgeous kitty here yesterday and I was actually pleasantly surprised. I had gone about 3 days in a row to see the cats and talk about different kittens. The facility is very nice, clean, and the staff was extremely helpful in all aspects. They gave me information on the availability of many kitties, gave me medical records with thorough explanations before I adopted, and we're super friendly. They are super knowledgable. I was not expecting to have such a positive experience for some reason, but I would go there again in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone. The ONLY downfall is the wait time at certain times of the day. But that's to be expected! When I went in the morning during work hours I had no wait.

Makes a difference comparing with the old animal shelter. This one is bigger and more organized and always you can ask where to go. But there's not enough parking. I went with a friend to transfer her dog to me, we asked and found where to do the transfer. It went so smooth and fast. We were out in less than five minutes.

Employees and volunteers work really hard to keep pets healthy, they promote adoption on social media and when you go looking for a new fur friend they are helpful and very nice. I adopted a 5 week old cat, they guided me in how to take care of her; spay is mandatory so I had to go back when she was old enough to do it; again, customer service was great. I absolutely love my cat, who is now almost 3 yrs old, she changed my life, and I saved hers. Every day many, way too many dogs and cats are put to sleep because they have no space to keep them, so please visit Miami-Dade Animal Services and adopt, don't shop.

The worst place ever!!! They don't care if there is a hurricane outside, don't bother calling them!! They won't help you!! They don't care is your pet is in danger, they will not give you any assistance!!!! They call themselves animal shelter but they will turn you down!! Disgusting!!! And the person who answers your call is so rude!! Unbelievably disgusting behavior that you don't expect on getting especially when there's a hurricane outside!!!! Don't go there! It's horrible!!

I took a family of 5 cats/kittens to be spayed/neutered as part of the T and R program.They didn't take the kittens because of them not meeting weight requirements (or so they said). I weighed them myself and found them to be on point with the required weight. I felt a bit lied to. I understand there is a high volume of pets coming in but a few(not all) employees in there didn't even really seem to enjoy their job or weren't very helpful.The phone rang for several minutes while two workers just sat there reading a book or were on their phone.Hearing one employee say ill that's disgusting about a newborn litter of kittens with the placenta still attached was a bit annoying. Again,I'm not saying all the workers there aren't helpful, this was just my experience that particular day. I am hoping to take the kittens back soon (2weeks later) so they can be released back into the community.I'm sure by then their opinions on their weight should be different.The cats that they did take in almost seems like they did a quick job on.The ears that were tipped were cut oddly uneven. the stitches did not look like a well done job,they were bleeding shortly after.Over all, I'm thankful for this service they provide for feral cats and for the individuals there that do want to make a difference.

Got two dogs here 1 year old Rottweiler and a 6 month old Catahoula. They have a lot of good breed dogs for adoption. They didn't charge me anything for the adoption and my new pets both came neutered and with all shots for free. Very nice complex less than a year old. Really enjoyed my experience and recommend this place for anyone looking to save pet lives.

It's been a long time that I saw people so careless to work. People at information do their best to don't give information. After 6 people waiting in line they started to ask for numbers. No signs that need to take a number on small screen on the right.
I changed my review from 1 to 3 stars since I meet people of the volunteer team. The real workers there. Incredible that the people that doesn't have a salary are so nice and great. and the people that get paid and have to represent the institution are so careless.response / report this review -

The handicap accessibility isn't great the handicap parking is far from the only ramp and you have to roll with cars to get to it. In a busy day today (a Sunday) people just literary do not give you the right of the way and screen at you to be rolling with the cars on the street, only if they knew that there is no access to the ramp through the sidewalk.
311 please take a look into it and make changes to make it became a real handicap place.. we love animals too.response / report this review -

I recently checked it out to start volunteering and I was taken aback by what an amazing faciliy. This is such an improvement and total different approach from the old animal shelter. The facilities are improved and client and people friendly. The animals seem much happier. Also, the shelter has changed to a no-kill shelter which is amazing. This means their adoptions rate is an average of 90%! They help kind homes for animals outside the state if necessary, and they only euthanize those animals that cannot be saved due to injury or illness, or cannot be rehabilitated. That is amazing and the community should do everything they possibly can to support this new and improved shelter. They are doing everything they can to adopt all their animals. I can't wait to become a regular volunteer. Check it out!!!

I was informed that Miami Dade is no longer a kill shelter, good to know! Beautiful new and clean facility. Please consider adopting before you go out and buy a pup. lots of wonderful animals need a home.

I hope you guys don't put the dog to sleep that attacked the little girl last night. I hope you train him and get him his shots so that he can be adoptable and in a caring home. It's not his fault he was not taken care of. Just like person he should not be put to sleep especially for something he was taught and can be taught differently.
