Absolutely fantastic. Extremely well curated, it feels like a much larger museum. There was an organ demonstration that was totally unique and the variety of art on display makes this suitable for almost anyone. Plan on spending at least 2 hours here, though you could easily spend 4 hours or more.

I have visited the MAG twice. I'll visit again. I started with brunch at the Downtown Brown Hound, a delightful dining room that has too little table space. I followed up with visits to the early American paintings that have always been my favorites. I finally made it upstairs. Monet has three works on display now, one from his youth, his middle age and his advancing age. The same room shows great items from the Barbizon School, a school from which Monet took his inspiration.

More than most museums, MAG has beautiful "goose eggs". Check the Georgia O'Keefe painting displayed to show images, front and back. Read about the derivative Cropsey knock off, based upon an engraving of a Cropsey original. Marvel at the self portrait of e.e. Cummings. Where did the museum find that gem? I enjoyed a short concert on the antique pipe organ in Fountain Court, a saved artifact that turned up in a Florentine flea market.

Bill Viola's Martyrs went on exhibit in October, four films of actors representing the act of martyrdom, suffering the effects of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. The museum has chosen the perfect environment for exhibiting these films that run at the same time. I preferred to regard these in silence although my fellow patrons responses in a more verbal manner. Sadly, this exhibition will not be permanent as of this writing.

Easy to get to from the Inner Loop, good price for what’s offered and a lot of fascinating pieces.

Super cool permanent collection of art. But MAG helps the community --so many interesting exhibitions and events. I really love the painted wall -mural - at the first floor.
They have an organ and they organize small organ concerts sometimes at the weekends for free.
Free for anyone with a University of Rochester ID.

My wife and I love the artwork here. We've never left disappointed. This is one of the places that defines Rochester and gives it a great name. Highly recommend this experience.

A must when visiting Rochester. Love the exhibits and the staff are welcoming and helpful. I used to participate (artist tent) in their annual Clothesline Festival, which is an amazing summer art festival. I'm happy to see they're still hosting it (Sept. 9 & 10). It's really great fun for the whole family!

Love Memorial Art Gallery. If you have a student ID you can usually get a discount. Great for date night too. Plenty of places close by to eat. Lots of great views!

I love this place. My grandfather took me here often. He as a watercolor artist. He was a member of the museum back in the day. They even had him show off his art in the museum. This place is amazing and I love coming here. It's a huge museum. I recommend coming here to see art sculptures and history from all over.

I love checking all of the hallways and alcoves to see what's new or restored or out of storage. Plus, the gift shop is just lovely.
