So any newcomers should realize they moved down the street to new digs in July 2017. It was a quaint, oddball place in an old space; now it's a modern oddball place in a brand new building. So some of the older reviews here are out of date.
That said, anyone who knows Molly Wellman's properties will know the food and drinks (particularly the craft cocktails) will be excellent. It's still a great meal with many of the same dishes, and still a favorite in the neighborhood.
Update 11/21/17: service is much improved!
I love Melt. I personally enjoy several of the sandwiches and they have great sides that aren't just French fries like everywhere else. Buffalo Mac is where it's at. My girlfriend is also Gluten Free and vegan and they have so many options for her. I know we will both be happy after eating here. If you want a cocktail you will find some great recipes for whatever you are in the mood for. Also the Ginger ale is freaking amazing if you wanna skip the booze.
Bring back the old melt. :( Part of what was so great about it was the atmosphere. Now it's just like every other "trendy" restaurant around. There is no charm. The food was okay. Mine came out cold, though. Our server was awesome and easily the best part of our experience there.
Very try hard. Old melt was vouch better. This has vegan options, previous melt catered specifically to melt.
Puts too much emphasis on their cocktails. I don’t care if Molly Wellman designed drinks - they’re over priced and at the end of the day just a drink.
It is a nice new building but it’s far from the glory days of the original melt. This one has lost its soul.
Extremely disappointed. I specifically came to this restaurant with my fiance because it touted it's vegan options. However, after requesting a vegan cheese steak, I was unknowingly served the vegetarian option. I quickly went from being impressed with the convincing cheese option to disgusted that I had just consumed cheese for the first time in two years. I only found out after ordering another, which came out nothing like the first. I am sure the food is good, but my trust and confidence in this restaurant is destroyed.
Never been to the old Melt but I like the upgrade!! I heard lack of seating was a problem at the old place but that's not a problem here with the spacious interiorand they serve alcohol here now too.
I started with a bowl of the black bean chili with white cheddar and it was delicious! The chili was sweet with some heat and the cheddar gave it a nice creamy finish. My lunch date got some good creamy potato soup and that it was. I also got a Verde chicken sandwich that was worth the price. It had roasted chicken with articokes, pesto, sun dried tomatoes & Swiss. The chicken was tender & flavorful, and you could taste each ingredient throughout the sandwich. It was served with some tasty blue corn chips. My date had a slowly roasted brisket sandwich that delicious as well. It was a good meal at nicely furnished place with a lot of charm. Great place for a date, meeting, whatever your heart desires!!
Delicious food for vegetarians with options for everyone. Mainly sandwiches that come with tasty corn chips. Very bright and easy to have conversations. Service seemed overwhelmed for late lunch on a Friday. Would have liked more dessert options, but not a deal breaker. We'll definitely be back.
The new location is nice and has more room. Service was very friendly. Food is tasty, but a grown man might need to order more than one lunch entree and side to avoid leaving hungry (judge all you want, but see for yourself). FYI Check was over$60.00 including a 20% tip for lunch we all drank water.. 3 average size adults and 2 small kids .I will go again because I think Molly is awesome and Melt is close to my house.
Melt has fresh food that is all house made with quality ingredients that I trust. I am never disappointed. The Island Cobb salad is my new favorite, with enough food for two meals or sharing. The new spot is great, albeit noisy, but I like having a cocktail with dinner and the atmosphere is just fine with me.
The food is really amazing and it's all in a really cute, kitschy cafe! I will definitely go back for the vegan 3 Way, with smokey chipotle cheez!
After years of loving Melt I have been so disappointed lately. Yesterday evening was the cherry on top when we went out excited to eat at the location one last time. No customers were in the building but us. We were not acknowledged when we walked in and stood at the counter for a solid 3 minutes while your employees held a conversation literally right next to us. Not a I will be with you shortly, nothing. Needless to say we left and took our money to Loving Hut. This experience saddened me and was enough to keep me away from Melt for good. I can only hope the owner see's this review and decides to bring it up to those 2 employees because it was completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
Melt is a great, cozy little space with unique, delicious menu items for all. They are extremely vegan friendly but still serve plenty of meat. Their brunch is awesome, but come early because they are packed! Northside gem that serves up fresh, creative, delicious dishes, and just fits.
Awesome food and great staff. We were visiting from out of town and had no idea what to expect. Needless to say, next time we are in Cincinnati we will be going back!
Service was far and friendly. I was excited to see a mufaletto sandwich (my first sitting outside New Orleans). Got the vegetarian version with satin. The satin was made in house and had a nice texture and umami. Git the Buffalo macaroni and cheese which was really creamy.
