DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!! Bedroom reeks of cigarette smoke. Flea infestation in many units.
The employees refuse to do anything further about the cigarette odor.
Roommates dog will never stop barking & office won't do anything.
Many units also have a flea infestation before move in and they will charge the new tenants for the flea treatment.
Employees generally just do not care about the tenants. Live somewhere else!!response / report this review -

Absolutely LOVED this place before Granite bought it. The previous office staff was helpful and took the time to learn your name and get to know you. The former management company used to be very tenant oriented. They would have little activities or treats for us during the first week of school or finals week for example. It was a small thing, but nice nonetheless. They always kept tenants well informed of anything taking place. My only fear was that the carpet in my unit was in need of replacement when I moved in, yet, they would not replace it. Fast forward to June of 2017 when Granite bought the place and it IMMEDIATELY went downhill. The ONLY good thing I can say about Granite was that Shane from Maintenance was very helpful. He addressed a few issues in my apartment very quickly. Aside from that, Granite is terrible. Let us start from the beginning, when they took over the only announcement was a vague letter taped to our doors the DAY the change took place. Basically, they did the bare minimum required. In this letter, they claimed we would all receive an email with a link to set up a new portal to pay our rent. Of the 4 people I talked to regarding this "portal link" not a one of us received said email until we had to call and ask about it. To me, this seems like another Granite ploy to squeeze a late fee out of many residents. When I moved in under the old management company I brought my own bed and had the furnished one removed. This year, I decided to bring a couch of my own from home. I asked to have the furnished on removed only to be told by the office staff "Granite had no space to store unused furniture and that it must stay in the unit or else we would be charged to replace the couch." When I told the individual that I knew he was lying because the old management company had storage he immediately backtracked and came up with excuses. Disheartening to say the least. In addition, I have had some serious issues picking up packages from the office. I went three times to pick up a large package and was told each time it was not there despite me showing the individuals the tracker showed it being delivered to the office. As it turns out, the package was there all along, but the office staff was negligent and "misplaced it so it was hard to find." Concerning? I would certainly say so. Additionally, I had a package delivered that was addressed to "Beth Bielecki." I go by my middle name, which is Beth. Because they only had "Emma Bielecki" listed in their system, they returned the package to the carrier. I'm not sure when Bielecki became a common last name or when someone would logically think it's a coincidence that a package was mis-mailed to an individual with the same last name as me to the same apartment I live it. It took me an extra 2 days to get a package that I paid extra to have shipped to me quicker because I needed it. Not to mention, in their system it should also have my middle name listed. I felt very discriminated against because I go by my middle name. It should not be rocket science to figure out the package did belong there. I cannot help but think Granite is trying to withhold packages for whatever reason. Granite is full of nothing but excuses. If you read many of the reviews, you’ll see that many of the good reviews are for Shane the maintenance man. He seems to be the most competent employee by far. Many responses Granite gives to issues regarding McCormick Place residents is that “ownership transition results in loss of a great deal of information.” I find that unacceptable that so many residents are allowed to fall through the cracks. I can’t say that I’ve spoken to anyone who is pleased with Granite taking over McCormick Place. Do yourself a favor; choose another management company and another apartment complex. I fear the worst for me with this complex is yet to come.

Please dont live here i live here for 6 months out of that 6 i stayed there 5 when I just moved in it was a mess had to o stay at friends house there was no water and the place was dirty . I had the worst experience here and management dont care at all . All they want to do I charge u extra fees before I moved out I clean thst place really well carpet was cleaned now 3 months later under new management the they sending me a bill for cleaning painting which is lies I check with the apt and it was not painted nor cleaned they are robbers I fell off their broken steps and hurt my knee and they didnt do nothing about it I am in to take them to court because I will not let them rip me off

4 stars for management and experience prior to the Granite takeover (fall 2015 to summer 2017).
It is neither the best place in the area nor the worst. However, whenever I had to go to the office, I had good interactions. All my rent checks were received and cashed in a timely manner.
The apartment was fairly clean and came with everything working. It did help that I had a responsible friend live in the same apartment for a year already. The dryer was not great, so you'll have to play with the time and heat settings or air dry your clothes. Nothing broke during my lease, so I had a rather fortunate experience. Insulation is ok, and I had the room window sealed up to stop air drafts. After heavy snow, the walkways were mostly cleared and salted. It could have been better, but you should always be careful when walking on snow/ice.response / report this review -

This place is fine before Granite take it over. It goes down like hell now.
I lived in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom for 1 year. When I sign the lease, the stuff even messed up my lease, and cause me to pay extra 100$ electric bill fine.
If you are looking for a quiet place to live, definitely skip this one, loud music on the drive way every weekend, sometimes even weekdays.
Always tons of fees you cannot avoid, I hired cleaning people to clean my apartment and carpet before I move out, which cost me 130$.
Granite still charging me for 320$ for painting and cleaning. I even went back the old apartment to check, there is no new painting at all.
I would recommend not to live in any apartment that runs by Granite.response / report this review -

Shane came to fix a leaky sink and adjust our showers and he is the nicest man I have ever met. He was quick, thorough, and very friendly. I also lost my key and the front desk was very kind and helpful and not once did they even look annoyed. So far all I have to say about the staff is that they are absolutely amazing people, and I look forward to working with them for at least the rest of the year!

Overall I'd say, avoid this place at all cost.
I lived here for a year. The staff is not friendly at all, every time I had a problem, they said: "I'll talk to my manager about it." The end. You have to contact them multiple times to solve a simple problem.
My room was broken in once, I called the police and also reported to the McCormick management, the polices were helpful, but the management was like it was not of their business.
The more important is:
If you DONT want to be charged a huge fee out of no reason when you move out, DONT live here.
I paid $200 cleaning fee to clean the entire apartment as clean as the time I moved in. They still charged me $400 after I moved out, out of no reason!!

Lived there for a year. It WAS the cheapest place to live around Purdue. And "I got what I paid for". The room is average at best, staff were not helpful at all. The new management took over and changed nothing but the rent. Remember you get what you pay for, it was true only before they increased the rent. And now? what a joke!
They didn't even bother to clean my room before move-in and they charge unreasonable amount when you move-out. I don't know if all apartment does that, but they will do whatever it takes to get you pay. I feel I was not dealing with apartment office, but rather a scam office.
Look somewhere else. Here you DO NOT get what you pay for.response / report this review -

Based on price, location, and quality of the apartments, this is certainly not the worst place to live around Purdue. I have experienced and seen much worse. That being said, I had an awful experience here. The staff was rude and just awful to talk to all year. They were never very helpful, and the amenities were not kept up well. Maintenance proved to be pretty useless unless I scheduled a time I would be in the apartment. They had to be shown exactly what to do, or they'd just pretend to fix the issue and leave. Lastly, my biggest grief with McCormick Place was my move in day.
My family had borrowed a vehicle for that day only. We arrived at McCormick to an apartment missing furniture, walls, utilities, and more. Nothing was cleaned or prepared, remnants were left from the previous tenants, the freezer did not work, one bathroom had no toilet, vanity, or bath, one bedroom was missing drywall. The property manager had not contacted anyone in my family, and we were not even approached before entering the apartment. We were given a key like everyone else and sent out to the apartment. When I returned a few minutes later, the manager stated, "Oh, you must be Apartment ###.", so CLEARLY it was known there was an issue. However, we were uninformed, had driven far to move my things for the semester, had rented a vehicle, and were offered nowhere to put my things. The best they could offer was piling my stuff in one corner of my construction site of an apartment and hoping nothing was damaged or stolen as work continued for "Hopefully only a week or two more". Luckily, as a sophomore, I had a week until school started and could stay with my friend. My freshman roommate had to move into the construction site and attend BGR from it. Even once the projects were finished, which required hounding from myself and my family, I had to have maintenance visit several times. I did not get to settle in before the start of the school year, and the drywall dust made sleeping and breathing suck for weeks.
This place is run by jerks with no sympathy, empathy, or care for any of their tenants.

This apartments are the worst apartments you can live in if your a Purdue students. If there was a 0 on the rating scale i would give it to them. I hate the fact that i have to write bad things about people but its the hard truth so i have to say it.
I had put in my application i don't smoke nor do i want to live with smokers but they put me in an apartment with smokers.
Their maintenance takes for ever to make things happen.
They claim to be affordable but they would always find a way to milk money out of you through outrageous electric bill that no one knows where they came from.
Also when you move into the apartments, you will find them dirty like a junk yard
Most importantly they have the worst transportation shuttle compare to all the apartments in the area.
They have a tiny shuttle which can only fit few people so passenger end up been packed like caned food , just to get to campus, and their shuttle only runs 2 times in an hour until 5:40pm.. whereas the other apartments have large buses which runs 4 times in an hour, can even transport your bicycle and run even after midnight.
If you're looking for convenience then don't try this apartmentsresponse / report this review
