I'm very happy with the equipment they installed, that is 5-stars all the way. It works very well, is ridiculously quiet, and the install is beautiful; a work of art, just check out the photo.

We just had them back out to install a new ductless mini-split system to cool our home and their work was, yet again, top notch! They were prompt in coming in and providing an estimate, helped match us with an electrician to get power to the unit, provided us consultation to help ensure we got a unit that would suit our needs today and tomorrow without overpaying, and then did another beautiful install.

For both heating and cooling they are prompt, courteous, and I've never seen cleaner work. They are neither the cheapest nor the most expensive estimates we received, but they are the absolute best value for the money you're going to spend.

McCarver Heating and cooling is probably the worst contractor I have ever worked with. Chris McCarver (the owner is rude and non-responsive). I needed a new compressor for my unit, he waited over 8 days before he called me. When he finally did, he did not even come for a free estimate. He asked to see a photo of the unit. I called the previous AC person, since I was not home and asked for a photo of the unit. I sent it on to McCarver and he showed up after another week. He was not wearing a mask while he was working on the unit. He attempted to install the compressor for 30 minutes and then called me up and announced that the photo sent was a different compressor from the one that was needed. He raised his voice and was complaining how I had him waste his time on this. I could not believe how rude he was. Then his assistant Christine sent a new estimate for the new compressor.
$2200 for the compressor.
$115 for McCarver showing up and trying to put the wrong part in
$125 for freight
PLUS they were going to charge freight for the new unit that they ordered. If that doesn’t sound like a scam, I don’t know what does.

As you can imagine, we were not going to be punished for a good-faith mistake so we asked to have the whole job canceled. They advertise free estimates which begs the question, why didn't McCarver Mechanical provide a free estimate before ordering a part?

Unfortunately, McCarver forces customers into giving deposits. So I deposited $500. It took several emails and complaints to get $375 back. His office manager refused to refund us $125 back. Please avoid McCarver Mechanical at all costs.

McCarver Mechanical has responded to our review. Here is our response:

1. McCarver Mechanical decided to punish us for a good faith error that occurred by tacking an almost $250 to the new estimate for a new compressor. Chris McCarver huffed and puffed on the phone saying that he “wasted his time.” Coming to my place.
2. If McCarver Mechanical is a reputable and conscientious contractor, they would send someone over to look over the unit before ordering a part. We are after all dealing with dangerous gasses and it just shows their shoddy, “cut corners at all costs” nature that they ordered a part before confirming it was the right part.
3. Our complaint was not waiting for the part, it was waiting a week for them to contact use.
4. We have been accused of launching a smear campaign and nothing can be further from the truth. We let them know that if they didn’t make this right, we’d warn other consumers about working with such a company. I spoke to a very experienced contractor and he was shocked by their behavior, including tacking on freight costs for ordering a new part and for ordering the previous part. Moreover, he said he thought their freight costs were inflated.
5. I had to send them several emails before they gave me a partial refund.

Everybody makes mistakes and we’d never review a company that made a good faith mistake. We’ve had flooring companies and carpenters, who made disastrous mistakes such as creating a huge link when they attached the flooring to the toilet. On each occasion we forgave their errors and did not write a negative review because they apologized for making a mistake and made everything right. In the case of McCarver Mechanical they’d rather make a quick buck and fleece a customer rather than play the long game and earn loyalty.

Chris and his team at McCarver Mechanical are the best. Had my whole system upgraded and I can't be happier with the performance and overall install process. Everyone at McCarver is professional and knowledgeable, even down to doing the rebates for you. You can't go wrong with them..

I've been using McCarver Mechanical for my residential heating and cooling needs for a few years now and couldn't be happier with their professionalism, rates, and services. Yesterday, Erik and Nick replaced my 20-year-old hot water heater and installed a new vent kit to the furnace. They were done in 90 minutes and cleaned up everything. Also, I love how the McCarver crews always call ahead when they are 10-15 minutes away. They are routinely on time and usually early, which I love! I would recommend McCarver to anybody who wants top-notch technicians in their home and customer service that is off the charts!

My 12 year old air conditioner was leaking coolant. The company that put it in did not do the dye test properly to locate the leak. A neighbor referred me to McCarver and I am so glad they did. When I called them they came out promptly, examined the air conditioner and gave me the options. I decided to purchase a new unit from them. The old unit was leaking so much coolant that Lewis, their technician, came out once a week to fill it, on my schedule, so I didn't have to take time off of work, until the new unit could be installed. Due to having surgery and the amount of coolant that had to be put in every time, Christine, Chris and Lewis figured out a way to install the unit earlier!! They put the new unit in quickly and were very neat. I have never had such awesome customer service before. I just can't say enough positive things about this company. I wish I had heard about them 12 years ago, because I know I wouldn't have needed another unit so soon. Thank you again, Lewis, Christine and Chris for the best customer service.

AC unit stopped working last night and I called McCarver in morning and tech was at my home within an hour. Diagnosed problem and fixed quickly and professionally. Would recommend to anyone requesting AC service.

My A/C stopped working on a 90 degree day, and McCarver Mechanical was able to get me a same day appointment to come out an assess it. They were there in about 3 hours after I called, quickly diagnosed the problem, and were very professional. They explained everything in detail, answered all of my questions, and fixed the problem at a fair price right then and there. I will be using McCarver Mechanical for all of my Heating and Cooling needs from now on.

This company is awesome. I contacted them from Georgia to resolve a
problem for me in Detroit. They were able to come out the next day to fix it.

We had a small emergency where one of the connecting pipes to our hot water heater sprung a leak. I called McCarver Heating and Cooling and I was greeted by a friendly and helpful female voice. (I am sorry forgot her name) She got me scheduled with a tech to show up to our house that morning. The tech's name was Joe and he did a great job figuring out the problem which was a very simple replacing of the pipe. Joe was very professional and courteous. I was very impressed with the high level of service from Joe and at the same time he went the extra mile when he was taking a look at the wiring of the hot water heater he showed me the inner workings and explained how they worked (I was pretty clueless). I would say to the owner of this business give Joe a raise he deserves it! I am sure if there is ever an issue again or we need a future service McCarver H and C will be on the very top of our list for a phone call. They have earned it!

I had McCarver Mechanical do the duct work in my restaurant. They did any awesome job and it was an excellent price. Their guys were very knowledgeable about what needed to be done and did it very efficiently. I would recommend and use them for all future projects.
