We spent several thousands on a ten day trip in Portugal in October 2019. While the river boat cruise was lovely, the 4 days before the cruise were unnecessary and not worth the money at all. My main complaint is the customer service while arranging/booking the arrangements for the cruise. My husband and I asked many questions about booking the cruise and flights as we were already going to be in Europe and were not traveling from the US with the rest of the group. We felt we were a bother to the company due to our 'extra' considerations. Email correspondences were curt at best. We had to ask several times to get them to call us back. While we didn't understand prior to the trip, they evaded pertinent questions about the itinerary which caused us to lose 3 days of our trip and spend money needlessly. When we asked about upgrading from economy coach to business class on the flights they told us it would cost $8,000.00 per PERSON! Yea right. They also added a third leg on the way home telling us it was the airlines fault. I feel it was a real Bait and switch from Mayflower. I did reach out to the Mayflower tour representative and she said she would have someone get back to me. Did not happen. I emailed Matt Greenwaldt in corporate back and forth. Each time he said he needed more time to get back to me. It's been 3 months since the trip. Epic fail at customer service, reliability, integrity and respect for their clients. No follow through. While there were very good parts of the River boat cruise, the price for what we did and the lost three days would not allow me to go back with them nor could I recommend Mayfair ever. And keep in mind who is giving positive reviews for them. Are these people actually paying for their trip or are they being 'comped' as they travel with a large group of clients? Live and learn!

Tour of greece was more then I could have hoped for. Fantastic. When I booked the tour my sister died that morn & when talking to Karla I explained that to her. I asked if she could called me in 4 days to make sure I got every thing right. She agreed. I had to fly 1,000 miles to deal with her death. I flew home & a 3 weeks later had to return again. I spaced out alot as I'm also taking care of a brother with his problems. Today I finally got to ask karla why she never returned my call. I was asked why didn't call her? Really nice of her to show no vompassion.

I recently took a river cruise on the Danube with Mayflower . I didn't know what to expect as this was my first time traveling internationally and on a river cruise. I can say from my experience that I would do it again! I'm excited to book another river cruise as they offer a multitude of destinations to visit. The planned touring was beautifully put together and if I could live on the ship I would! The food was amazing, staff was super friendly. 10/10

Loved the experience I had on my trip to Croatia. Excellent guides and the ship was beautiful. I would travel with Mayflower again in a heartbeat!

This cruise line is a ripoff. They bait and switch. And, they make lots of errors. They’ll cost you more in the end than what they initially tell you. Beware. They’re unethical. Run as fast as you can.

We have booked with Mayflower for the past two years and have enjoyed the booking process and the quality of the tours. Our Greece tour was incredible! Our guide was very knowledgeable (Masters in Greek Theology) the hotel was 5 star and within walking distance of everything.
The bus was new and very comfortable, our drivers were exceptional and knew the area well. Working with the reservation team was always a delight, I highly recommend this company for all international and domestic travel.

Took a Danube River Cruise thru Mayflower tours, the "major airline" was Lot Polish Airlines, had to fly in & out of Warsaw, Poland which was out of the way in both directions, 2 hr delay leaving with no explanation. Cruise part on Emerald Waterways was good, Ambassador Hotel in Prague was horrible, 90 degrees outside & no AC in room, beds were harder than a wooden table, stuck here for 2 days. First & last trip thru Mayflower.

We went to Athens, Greece and toured 3 Greek Islands during the recent Greek Easter.
3 days prior to our departure we were notified by mail that we would not be included in the larger group of travelers going on the trip so that we should disregard the previously included traveler list and use a new (different) colored name tag for the trip. We contacted the local rep for Mayflower but she said that she didn't know about this change. We asked her to put us in touch with a rep who could explain the change and we did get a call within an hour. We were told that we would be a group of 7 travelers and would receive all of the advertised items on the brochure. We did receive a separate tour guide for the Athens portion and she was excellent but we didn't get a tour manager for the cruise and we became known as the Mayflower Orphans as we were placed on a space available basis with other groups. This was a little uncomfortable for all of us and should have been managed differently by Mayflower. The other groups were on religious pilgrimages and we were asked by some why we were with them. Most of the passengers were good natured about us. The Athens portion of the trip was fulfilled as advertised. On the final day in Athens we planned a day without guidance and enjoyed the sights on our own. We expressed our concerns on the Mayflower tours survey but have heard nothing from Mayflower Tours.

Went on the California Coastal Tour in October 2013. Horrible. The hotels were low budgetmatter of fact, one of them was a motel! I didn't pay darn near $4k to stay in a motel. The tour was also extremely fast paced with rare snatches of free time. The restaurants were low budget as well. At one restaurant, non-alcoholic beverages were supposed to be included so I ordered a lemonade; come to find out the lemonade was "special" and they charged me for it! Nonsense. It's the little things that count and this tour company failed on all counts. I would NEVER travel with them ever again.

I wasn't a customer of Mayflower Tours, but I was an employee of one of the hotels used by this tour group. I just have to say that I am appalled by the way this company does buisiness. I work as a bellman and I live primarily on tips. I can't count on every person I encounter to know this so I have to work hard for every dollar I make. When a tour group comes in this is especially true simply because of the volume of bags all at once. One good thing about tour groups is that the cost of porterage is built in and I can count on being paid for my hard work. Not so in this case. For whatever reason, Mayflower Tours refused to pay for porterage at my hotel. Now, I know there is alot of controversy these days about tipping. I agree that it has gotten a little out of control and tips should not be assumed, but I worked really hard for an agreed upon price. When my paycheck comes to me I count on at least the tour groups to be represented there. This week all I got was a diminished check and the explanation of 'Mayflower is refusing to pay porterage'. The thing is, I know that the cost of porterage is built into the packages that Mayflower sells. I can understand if one person had an issue there might have to be a reduction in price for that one person. By refusing to pay the whole thing, I'm left to try and figure out how I'm going to pay my electric bill. Meanwhile, I bet all those people who booked that tour did not see their two dollars refunded to them, but someone got that money. Way to stick it to the little guy Mayflower.

Sea Islands Tour - Value Tour 2013- Julie Mirsberger - Tour Director/Driver Lonnie Arthur. 2/23/13 thru 3/2/13.

Julia played a SUPER SICKO MOVIE, that no one wanted, but apparently she did.

While staying @ Comfort Inn & Suites in Beaufort, SC, our toilet backed up and contacted the front desk, who said I could pick up a plunger, but no one was available to service it???????? This is inexcusable @ best. Also, ordered wake up call which never happened?

Without question, this hotel should be eliminated from any future tours.
