Spent two evenings at this quant lodge.we had a very nice visit and the staff was so friendly. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the lodge from staff and we would definitely return.

The layout is nice the long par 4 needs a tee box up . The farways need work hard to find good grass but would play it again.

Had a rain check to this course. They pro rate thier rain checks and I had finished playing only two holes in my round when a nasty storm rolled through (peninsula weather is highly variable). Picked up a rain check and left. When I came back another day I somehow still had to pay $21 even with the rain check, which is outrageously close to full price. Just be careful you are informed on the forecast before you tee off. Disappointed in the staff/policy at this location, probably won't be back. Too many other nice courses in northern door. The orchards/peninsula/Bay Ridge, the Alpine.

This is actually a fun golf course with some challenging holes. It won't be holding any PGA tournaments, but it's a nice course for high handicappers.

This review is specifically for the Golf Course. I personally thought it was an awesome course and somewhat lesser known because it is on the opposite side of the peninsula from where most of the "action" and other golf courses lie. I love the old style design of established, tree-lined fairways, smaller greens, and overall character of the course. Plenty of sand traps and very good length despite a more historic course, especially for some of their par three's. The greens are in better condition than any other course. I believe the wind blows a bit more on this side of the peninsula so that influences the length considerably depending on the hole. I would definitely go back there and play and would recommend it over Alpine Golf Course or Bayshore. It's right there in quality with Peninsula State Park Golf course in my opinion. Give it a try, I think you'll be pleased you did.

I planned a trip with a close friend of mine to door county, for the memorial day weekend. Everything was booked we couldn't find much. Maxwelton Braes had an opening which initially was a little concerning. After calling the resort with some questions, I got a call back from the owner informing me that i had paid to much. She insisted on giving me the better deal which was awesome. We got the same room and a huge discount. She personally stayed ot the resort late until we arrived at 11:30 pm. Excellent service (better than I've ever had before). Very comfortable prices on everything. They have a beautiful golf course. All in all it was one of the best mini vacations I have ever been on, thanks to Maxwelton Braes.
