My family and I have been going here for over twenty years, and we all use to really love this place a lot. I want to still love it, but I think it's just not possibly any longer. The last four or five times I've been here, things have changed. Food quality is not nearly as good as it use to be, and the staff seem not very concerned about their customers any longer. Please read this review, try to fix this A.S.A.P., unless you want to continue losing life long customers. Once again, we all use to love your restaurant, and we want to once again. Have a Blessed Day
I have loved Marra's food since 1990 when I moved here. It's Genuine no frills South Philly Italian. This us from last year but this past week I ordered from here every night. I love this place. I usually get the veal Sicilian or the veal with eggplant. I love their meatballs and spinach or broc rabyum!
We ordered one of their most expensive bottles of wine, which was cheap by my standards. They didn’t open the wine at the table, and we soon figured out why. It was obvious that they had poured a cheap wine in to the bottle they were serving us. Demand that they open your wine table side or prepare to drink cheap nasty wine. Food was typically American Italian, nothing you would ever be served in Italy. Shellfish was over cooked and did not smell fresh. Our waitress had a good attitude.
The ladies room was disgustingly filthy, as were the floors and stairway. No bathroom on main floor so our handicapped guest had to go to another restaurant to go to the bathroom.
The service was fast and friendly. The food is really good and we were able to eat and drink within a reasonable amount of time from walking in the door. Kinda loud the day I was there but I guess it could be a good place if you like to talk loud as well. Maybe it’s quieter other days. I don’t know. The waitress was attentive and the food was 8/10
One of the best Italian restaurants in South Philadelphia. Best pizza in the city, brick oven.Great antipasto and very cheap sunset menu.If an all Italian American like me who has been dining there for 52 years likes it,you will too!
Went there for dinner, party of 7. Ordered chicken parm. Chicken cutlet was thick and burned. Gravy had no taste. Ravioli was terrible. Ordered pizza, nothing to brag about. Place is old , bathroom on second floor up steep flight of steps. My advice dont go.
Great food! Reminds me of a classic Italian restaurant that you'd go to. Decor is a little dated
1 star is being nice. We walked in the door and the lady sitting at the bar said to sit anywhere. 5 minutes past and a waitress walked by our both ,threw 2 menus down and didn't say a word. We should of left then but decided to stay. So 10 more minutes past remind you that there was only 2 other tables there being waited on, the waitress was talking to the other customers as she Sat down and kept talking we decided to get up and leave. The 15 to 20 minutes we sat there with no service we realized how dirty the place really was. We get delivery from there sometimes to but after this experience on a slow holiday weekend, never again..
This is a classic and historic Italian restaurant with very good pasta dishes. They make the pasta fresh and the sauces are homemade. They're not catering to you and your postmodern needs, they're serving you what their family has made well for generations.
Overall, can't say anything negative, but there wasn't anything to write home about either. The booth for 2 isn't equipped to handle actual dinner for 2 and having a side table in the path of traffic, holding your pie is a turnoff. The calamari did not have any tentacles and the gnocchi is potato not cheese. Nothing wrong with either, just mentioning. It was crowded, families with children, couples and groups. Pretty loud, but not overbearing. The server never asked what my company wanted to drink and I felt almost rushed while finishing my wine. With a tab just under $100 for 2, I'd expect a little hang time acceptable. Would go back, but not till I tick a few other places off my hit list first.
Always great food. But some may think it loud. It's Italian! Get over it 😁 It's real!
Nice people, nice place, good food, not so expensive, nice atmosphere.
Fabulous spot for a date or family dinner on Sunday. Old school Italian food with carafes of wine. They do offer take out as well.
The atmosphere was lacking but ya know what? The food was great. Some people are too concerned about vibes. Sometimes you just need some good old fashion Italian food.
But don't take your grandma there. Mine had to walk up a steep flight of steps on 3 different occasions to use the bathroom.
