Sad what's happened to this place. My wife and I used to love coming here for breakfast, brunch, or lunch would come maybe once a month. Hadn't been in awhile, came for lunch about a week ago. Not busy, but service was VERY slow (though friendly). Servers were running about as though there was no organization, and we watched as our food sat for 10 minutes under the lamps before we got it. It was cold, although to their credit, they knew it was not acceptable and did comp one of our meals. Since it was handled well by management, we tried again for breakfast this morning with the entire family, and essentially the exact same thing happened. Steady, but servers appeared to be running all over the place without any organization. Server did say they were having a "mini rush" but they seemed to be staffed enough. We kept watching as staff was looking at food and tickets, again seemed completely disorganized and food sat waiting to come out for a number of minutes. Of course, when we got our food, it ranged from "kind of warm" to flat out cold, as mine was. My mother ordered a waffle that had butter on top, the butter didn't even melt. I sent mine back, server claimed it was being "remade". I got it back, sandwich was mutilated and still not overly warm. And yes, I saw it sit on the ledge under the lamp for 5 minutes before it was brought back to me Lied to, it was not remade but zapped in the microwave and stuck back under the heat lamp. Restaurant is in a great location and seems busy, but until they put processes in place, STAY AWAY! Sad to say for us, one of our favorites in Sun Prairie has forever lost our business. Avoid unless you enjoy cold food and disorganized, slow service.

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU'RE COLORED!!! My wife and I weren't even acknowledged until we started walking out. We stood in line and they sat people that were behind us. I didn't even want to give a one star review. I'm an 8 year veteran and just because the color of skin I wasn't served. There was at least 10 tables open and 8 waitresses standing around. I'm writing this review from another much better diner in Sun Prairire, Gus's sat us within seconds and took our order right away.

Market Street Diner and Bakery is picturesque -- with booth, table and counter seating. The food is good, the staff are delightful and friendly (with excellent taste in fun socks). It attracts a diverse crowd, everyone seems happy and satisfied with the food and attention they receive. The coffee is delicious. I could sit there and drink coffee all day. It's a wonderful addition to the Sun Prairie downtown.

Bacon wrapped meatloaf dinner was good. Coconut cream pie was okay. Could have been better for the price.

We went for cake. And pie. It was wonderful. A 12-year-old boy couldn't finish his piece of cake even though he really wanted it.

Horrible. Not sure who is managing this place now but sure has gone down hill. For starters, been there several times in the last couple of years and had to wait every single time to order, get food, get the check and it's not even close to being busy, it's painful. You know it's not good when the waitress suggests that you not eat the southwest black bean soup unless you like retried beans?? What happened to the black beans, did I miss something hereOrdered the fish, that was a mistake.Once you finally make your way through the breading, you might find some fish. They used to this right before things changed. Honestly, I've had better fish from a box. Don't waste your time and money.

This surprising gem is in downtown Sun Prairie. My wife and I went there for breakfast. The staff was great.
My wife had biscuits and gravy (her regular when we go to a diner) and I had their Monte Christo. My wife liked her dish. I thought mine was a bit of an odd combination but I figured I’d try it. The components were all good but I don’t think they went together well.
I’d definitely go back but I’d try something else.
They also have a drive thru in the back, but I’m not sure what is available for that. Perhaps just bakery items.

I had the Farmers Market Hash. Potato, sweet potato with brussel sprouts and turnips. And a biscuit and eggs. It was excellent.

We enjoy eating here because there are a lot of tasty choices. Try the weekend brunch buffet! I get it just for the desserts (the food is good too) ;) They also have some very good servers. The reason for my review missing a star: It can be loud which is frustrating when you feel like you are shouting to the person across the booth. Additionally, the hostess stand is the same place customers pay, so it can be a bit of a cluster at busy times.
