My girlfriends and I were on our annual Christmas trip to Chicago. We walked past n were super excited to see cupcakes! Unfortunately they super sucked! Dry and tasted horrible! I tossed $16 worth of cupcakes. I can’t believe this place was busy! I hate writing bad reviews but this made us really sad. We really wanted to add a new tradition. Poor layout and poor service as well.
Try any of their delish pastries, you will love it. My favorite is the banana cream pudding. Accompany that with a hot chocolate, and you will have yourself a great treat!
It was pretty good. The desserts are delicious, the ordering process is similar to Subway, the staff are helpful, menus & restrooms r available. My only problem is there is not enough seating areas.
I absolutely love coming here! It's a very cute_ old fashioned looking shop that has cupcakes, banana pudding, whole cakes, hot/iced tea, hot chocolate, and hot/iced coffee. I recentally had the chai latte and pumpkin spice cupcake with goat cheese frosting. Both were very good. My friend had the chocolate peanut butter bar, which was also good.
It was a cute spot.
The service was good. I just ran into get some items to take back home.
Anticipating trying the Chocolate banana pudding.
The blueberry jamboree was good. I was expecting a hard crust but it was a crumbling graham cracker situation. And it had nuts ( just FYI )
The aesthetic of this bakery is enough to get 5 stars, but I should mention the AMAZING banana pudding! Never knew I liked it until I tried Magnolias salted caramel, chocolate, or original it's almost impossible to decide which is best. And the staff was so nice and helpful in getting us the best experience for our first time here.
The concierge at our hotel told us we had to try the banana pudding. Said it was "life-changing". So, we stopped by the bakery on our way out of town. I agree with other reviewers the staff did not seem very welcoming or friendly. The banana pudding was very good. A little too sweet for my liking. Although the Salted Caramel banana pudding was pretty darn good. Also, more banana than pudding. Not a great place to to sit and enjoy with friends. The tables very small and the chairs are also small. So if you only have one friend with you I guess it would be okay. The small personal cheesecakes looked delicious. But, after experiencing the help we chose to just get the banana pudding.
This place rocks! Beautifully decorated with Harney teas for sale and coffee too. I sampled the flourless chocolate cake; it was airy, light and perfectly cocoa-y tasting. The pecan caramel individual cheesecake was a Southern dream in bites. Magnolia reminds me of a Savannah tea room: elegant and with gracious servers. Can't wait to go back!
Came by for an afternoon sweet, purchased a vanilla cheesecake. It is tall but fluffy and wonderful, worth the $7 price tag.. I also got a cookie for later, which was good.
I purchased a mixture of cupcakes and mini cupcakes. Red velvet was okay, chocolate cupcakes were stale and not moist, and the holiday cupcake was great but not worth the extra money. Overall a 3 because no consistency of moist vs. stale cake
Every time I go here I get the pudding. I LOVE the banana pudding. The cupcakes are alright, the sour cream blueberry coffee cake was amazing. But the banana, bruh.. Your mouth salivates for days until you can get more.
Do you know how Elixir tastes like?? Must be just like the Banana pudding. :) It just melts in your mouth in seconds. You can never go wrong with Banana pudding from Magnolia. Carrot cake and Hummingbird cake are good options in cakes. I had to wait in queue for 15 minutes in Magnolia NewYork City. But luckily, I didn't had to wait in Chicago Magnolia on a Friday evening.
This would be my go to place when I want to get high with sugar.
Everything was great except the cake!
This place is super cute, the staff is nice and the baked goods look great. I ordered a slice of vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. I got the first slice cut out of the cake to go. When I got home to eat it, it was so dry and crunchy. For spending $5 on a slice I was expecting it to be reasonably moist. The icing was good but the cake itself tasted like it was made a week ago which was very disappointing.
