Loved this campground! Lots of trees, peaceful environment, very clean, they pick up all the trash in bags by your site, and even small tree limbs on the ground, very well-maintained. We stayed there 4 nights in a travel trailer, pull-through site Even though the campground is on a slight grade, all the sights are level. They built small retaining walls between some of the sights. The campground seems to be out of town, but it is actually only 2-3 miles from downtown Mackinaw City, from the Headlands "dark park," and about 1 mile from I-75. If in the area, stay there.
Loved this place! People are friendly, the site had great shade and electric/water hookups. Showers and bathrooms are well kept. There's a pool and game area for ladderball and bean bags! Wish they offered larger wood bundle at discount. We will be back :)
My husband and I went to Mackinaw City KOA Camp ground for our wedding anniversary. And I must say that every year we go to this camp ground it's the best ever. We have tried other KOA Camp grounds like Allendale KOA it was horrible. I'll drive the extra miles and stay at Mackinaw city KOA Camp ground any day for the better staff and better Camp ground. Mackinaw City KOA Camp ground you guys are truly the best ever.
This is a wonderful KOA campground. It is right next to the Northwest bike trail (paved) which takes you right into downtown Mackinaw City. It is a 2 mile bike ride from the campground to the docks where the ferries take off for Mackinac Island. It is very convenient, and also very comfortable. It has a 24 hour laundromat, nice little store, heated pool, and a fenced in dog park. The staff are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this facility.
Very nice campground oretty much in the middle of every tourist site around . Grest staff too..vety friendly and helpful.
We found this campsite to be very well run, and it had all of the amenities we needed. Bathrooms and showers were VERY clean and the staff was pleasant and very helpful. I would rate a five star, but not being a regular camper I do not have much to compare this stay to. Very convenient to Mackinaw City and the Headlands International Dark Sky Park. Great stay!
Horrible experience. Poorly handled by the front desk. There are several campgrounds in the area anything has to be better! We left after the first night and went to the St. Ignace KOA 10 min away. It was a night and day difference!
New blood reviving this great KOA park. Evidence of multiple projects to improve this property, saw progress just in the 3 nights we stayed. Wooded, newly leveled sites. Nice office/store. Nice bike path into town. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about nearby activities and restaurants - from owners to staff to work campers. We would definitely recommend this park and would return if ever back to this area.
We stayed last year for a trip to the island and had a wonderful time. This site also offers transportation to the ferry line. We reserved in advance- paid the rest when we got to the site. Hassle-free, no gimics. Showers are clean (but co-ed), campsite is clean and very family friendly. Pool was awesome and heated. My family and I will absolutely be coming back to KOA Macinac.
