Their haggis is the best tasting organ meat based food product I have ever had. I'm not joking. It's seriously good. Also they have delicious beers to wash it down with.
We love MacNivens, have for a very long time. Their food is great, service is great, and the beer selection is always good. Also helps that they let kids in now so we can go as a whole family. Favorites are the scotch egg, scotch onion soup, beef stew, grilled cheese is incredible, beef machattan also incredible. Fish and chips are we started going more then 10 years ago and they’re still great
Cozy atmosphere. Friendly and clean. The fish and chips weren't the best, but the Angus burger is as big as your face and the onion rings look like donuts. Will go back.
Great bar with great service. Had the veggie chili and it was pretty tasty. The bread was really good. The place is clean and offers indoor or outdoor seating. The menu had something for everyone. Irish food is the theme and everyone I spoke with loved the lamb stew and Shepard's pie.
Absolutely amazing fish and chips. Very good waiter and quick service. I'll be coming back many times!
Really really really good food. I've heard lots of people say haggis is disgusting but it's delicious here (and for 50¢ you can get a tiny cup to try it before you order the full meal of it) and their scotch eggs are absolutely to die for. Super friendly and helpful staff, a friend tried ordering a cocktail and ended up really not liking what she ordered, they made her something else and were very nice about doing it, didn't charge her for the one she didn't like. If the weather is nice the bar facing the street is really nice to sit at and people watch while you eat, and the waiters will come outside to take your order/deliver food so that you aren't awkwardly looking and reaching behind you to see them. Prices are in the $15-25 range for most meals. All in all a great place!
Little Scottish bar in a nice restaurant district of Indianapolis. Pretty decent scotch selection with a variety of different kinds. Good bar food and good food for dinner. Many dishes were vegetarian friendly. Vegetarian haggis was an interesting try.
We've been to MacNiven's twice now and had a great experience both times. Their haggis is actually really good and we loved trying all the Scottish dishes. Their beer and whiskey list was excellent as well.
Great atmosphere here with solid menu of selections. I enjoy the Angus burger, a flattened steak-burger that you have to fold twice to fit on the bun. Amazing, huge onion rings (you only get two but they're plenty big) and great bread-pudding. Prices are modest, making this an ideal spot for a lunch or dinner.
Best salmon in the city! It is poached and wonderful. Served with neeps and a side. I usually get mashed red potatoes. If you like haggis, theirs is wonderful. French onion soup is also a winner.
Best Scotch eggs around. Always a great place to go for lunch, dinner or just drinks
They think the beer is made with gold. Very pricey for what it is. I like the bar but it attracts a trendy mass ave Crowd. Nice place to go and eat for something a little different. But not worth it all the time.
Probably one of the best meals I have ever had! The haggis is out of this world! It's only 50 cents to sample, so do it! Scotch eggs for an appetizer - fantastic! Sunshine, our server, was amazing!
Great beer selection. They typically have several local breweries on tap as well as a great bottle selection. The food is great. The Angus burger is a pounded flat and marinated in Worcestershire sauce delight. The Scotch egg is a tasty but not too healthy treat. I always love Belhaven Scottish ale and they have it on tap. Their veggie club has a nice kick to it and is actually one of the few vegetarian dishes I enjoy. But the beans and toast is a late night surprise that you will wonder why you didn't think of it first. Oh yeah, one other thing, their onion rings are the size of donuts. And you can bring in kids on the restaurant side.
