This place is world famous and one of the best known NC barbecue places. It is a benchmark for the barbecue of this area. Upon walking in you know you are in a old school operation from the look of things which take you back in time a bit. All in a very good way. The service is friendly and efficient and the food is delivered almost immediately after you order it. The sauce is a bit different from eastern NC, being more reddish. I thought the food was good. The chopped plate was a bit moister and less smoky than what I am used to, and would rate at 5 stars. The menu is very limited and the sides are not too impressive.

We have great BBQ here in Shelby, NC. We know great BBQ when we taste it. Lexington BBQ is great too. They are very busy but do an excellent job serving customers quickly.

I don't think some of these people know where they are dining. I've been to Lexington Barbecue a zillion times, and it's always fantastic! A small tray is just that, a small tray. My husband and I always split a small fry with our meal, and with all the hush puppies you can eat, I've never left there that I wasn't stuffed. And, I am a hearty eater! Sweet tea is to die for, and I always get a refill to go. After a visit there, we usually eat a very small meal at night, because we still aren't hungry. A lot of people call all barbecue from Lexington, "Lexington Barbecue", but that is not the case. Famous folks from all over come here to eat. It's just that good!

The BBQ was very tasteful but the buns/rolls were soggy, also our waitress took our cup because it had a hole in it and did not return it. The portions were super small for the price and to top it all off we were rushed up form our seats. I highly do not recommend this place to enjoy a meal.

The service is great! Tea was good! Best onion rings I've ever had! ! But the fish sandwich was only filling. BBQ slaw was bland, and, just doesn't go well with fish. Fish was pretty fishy.

Food was good but the people made it truly excellent. I sat at the bar between two total strangers and they each made me feel like I was part of the family. Nicest people I've ever met and it is family owned and operated and the whole history is quite interesting if you've got the time.

Excellent barbecue! Platters, sandwiches, fries, tea, colas, hot dogs served your way. Its all good. It's usually crowed, so come prepared to wait a few minutes. The food is well worth the wait.

Okay, so this place isn't exactly what we expected. I guess we are just used to Texas barbecue and have grown accustom to that type of flavor. It's not exactly horrible food but honestly I would never go back. I make better pulled pork myself so I just prefer to eat the stuff that I make. The staff was nice!

The people here are rude!! We went around closing time but didn't realize that they were about to close because the time online was posted incorrectly. They were sweeping & vacuuming all around us. Didn't come to give us refills we had to flag them down for help!!! We have visited this location before & the food was good but the service was always just fair. However the people were so rude this time that we will never stop there again!!!! There are to many other friendly places to spend our money!!! Never Ever Again!!!!

Food is amazing, service is quick but seating is limited. It has the best BBQ in Lexington so it's packed every day from 11 am to 2:30-3:00pm. If you're in Lexington, and you want BBQ, this is the place to get it!

Good food. Servers need to be a little more friendly. Probably not returning due to poor service.

Watery vinegary sauce is just not my cup of tea. I prefer thick Texas-style sauce. The pork and hush puppies were OK, but the cole slaw had that same tart sauce. Our party of 4 won't be back.

RACIST. My boyfriend's family recently moved to Lexington. So my boyfriend and I decided to try out Lexington BBQ. The service was very horrible. There is a difference between rude and busy. My boyfriend asked a question and our server completely ignored him and walked away. When she returned I asked, and she answered. We watched how she interacted with other tables and she was providing excellent service, however she forgot to share the same service with us. She stopped serving us, and a new server took over. The new server was very kind, but it was too late and a first impression is a lasting one. Lexington BBQ showed us that black people are treated as less than, and we will not be back.

The meat was tender. The hush puppies were yummy, although I'm not sure they were house made. The sauce was way to spicy for me, as I have stomach issues and have to be careful. And they had no other option for me so I had to eat dry meat. Of course the cole slaw was made with the sauce so I couldn't eat that either. Now, if you like the sauce, you're good to go. The restaurant was crowded. We gave it a try. I think if we get up that way again, i'll bring my own sauce.
