Great State Beach! Parking is reasonably priced and the beach has indoor bathroom facilities. Lots of wildlife in the shallows and sea caves to explore. Fun for all ages 😊

We came here hearing the tidal basins are great to find starfish, crabs, etc. We didn't see much but the rocks were great to climb on and have fun with. Parking is $3 for the first hour. Not bad, but I think you can park for free on highway and be closer to beach. Nice beach just for enjoying sun and wildlife is a bonus.

The Best camping location!!! The beaches are beautiful and there’s places to explore. The campgrounds feel as if you out in the woods. It’s a great place for the family (dogs are limited to 1 beach location). The campground has a small general store that make it easy to get those little things or some candy for the kiddies or more importantly coffee in the morning! It’s a nice walk from the grounds to the beach which makes going back and forth easy and safe. Will visit again and again.

My absolute favorite beach in Southern California. There's so much more to do here than anywhere else. Great beaches, rock formations, caves and trails. Leo has good surfing when the waves are big and great diving/snorkeling when it's calm. The tide pools are amazing! The campground could have some full hookup spots But otherwise it's an incredible place.

Expansive stretch of coastline containing 2 main beaches. The north beach allows dogs on a leash and is great for swimming. The south Beach is more for surfing & exploring tide pools. Between the two main beaches are rocky bluffs and smaller beaches. I love the bluffs that stretch into the ocean as they're abundant with tide pools with crab inside. I come here a lot and it's usually very clean. Leisure and solitude are easy even on the more crowded days.

Had the best time exploring the beach with my son and nephew. Even though it was crowded we had lots of space to splash around and play in the sand.

The views at sunset are to die for it is also great place to explore the tide pools and caves at low tide. Cost for parking is also pretty reasonable in comparison to other beaches.

Love this beach but I'm only giving it 4 stars because .

1. it says its a dog beach, but there are signs saying no dogs. There are also days where everyone has their dog on a leash and the beach is small so you have to follow suit. I have two big dogs who need to run, so it can be a bit of a buzz kill if I drive an hour from LA to have my dog tied up.

2. parking is tricky. There is a parking lot you have to pay for or you can park along the side of the highway. You just need to watch out because cars are going pretty fast.

3. Very rocky, last time I went half the beach was missing

Awesome for kids, and the distance from the city keeps the idiot factor low. Nice tide pools, neat caves, and manageable waves. Also, the electric car charging is fantastic.

Carrillo State Park has a lovely beach with a few coves separated from each other with rocks. Unfortunately, part of the road to one of the parking lots was under water when we were there, which limited us to the other of the two parking lots (I might've been willing to take the chance in my own car, but not in a rental). Other than that, we had a very nice visit and may well return the next time we're in the area.

It drive me crazy when the sun is everywhere in LA. But rarely shine on beaches. Anyway. It is a nice beach, if you are into organized and family oriented beaches. Not my style, so I don't think I will come Bach here. I rather drive 15-20 more minutes and get to the more wild beaches.

Perfect for families with young kids!! Lots of tide pools and there are rocks that make it too hard to swim in the water just past the tide. This is great because it's more of an exploration beach for kids to play and dig and just get their feet wet. Very safe!

Saw about 30 sea lions hanging out on rocks, not crowded, great place to see a full moon rise above the oceana bit Rocky but enough hideaways to feel like you're alone on the beach beginner to intermediate waves for surfers Really, it's California, the ocean, great highway driving, beautiful lady at my sidewho could ask for more

Awesome dog and family friendly beach and campground. Fun activities by staff and a handful of trails to explore. Close by market and Starbucks (for those spoiled campers among us). My family has been visiting for over a decade, the spots fill up fast so you have to plan often months in advance. Well worth the wait, can't wait to go back!
