I love this place and have been coming here since I was little. We go at least yearly in the spring when there's water in the creek and before it gets too hot.
Yesterday's hike was beautiful. Weather was warm and we got there early so it was not packed. We saw about 30 lizards!! Some were massive! If you take the loop trail it's about 45 minutes. Took us an hour cause we have a 6 year old lol. There's a creek at the base with water still running as of yesterday. It's just beautiful during the whole hike. I found myself pausing just to stare in awe, even after all the times I've been; it never gets old.
There are markers too. You'll see "Trail" signs and markers going from 1 up to 10 to let you know you're going the right way. The nature center is pretty cool, even for adults. My daughter loves going in there every year we go.
Bring water and a snack. Wear a hat and glasses and wear hiking shoes. Rest if you get tired. Bring a knife just in case you see a snake.response / report this review -

Beautiful area to hike see wild animals and ones that have been rescued by the Rangers. This is where 4 faults meet together. Bazaar to see the earth come through land for all of us to see. It's guarded at all times and protected by Rangers that are filled with amazing information. It's really beautiful!

Great place for a day hike, with several trails for different skill levels. Beautiful in the Spring, especially with some snow on the nearby mountains. It's high-desert climate, so expect it to be cold in the winter and brutally hot in summer. This place can also get extremely crowded on holiday weekends, so try to make it on a weekday if possible. Also, don't plan on using the bathroom here - it's bad. Plan ahead and enjoy!

Awesome place to go to see an amazing natural wonder. It's beautiful. It has a fun trail, full of twists and steep edges. Make sure to have good hiking boots and be aware of your surroundings. Plenty of snakes and places to slip.

FYI FIRST OFF THERE ARE TWO LOCATIONS CALLED DEVILS PUNCHBOWL, one in Calif and one in Oregon. I think the reviews and the pictures are getting mixed up.
Devils Punchbowl is located in the desert off Highway 138/town of Pearblossom in California. And have NO LARGE POOLS of water to swim in. Just a small seasonal creek at bottomnof canyon.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE LOOKING UP THE RIGHT ONE.The map directions on this site is the correct location for the Devils Punchbowl in California. :)response / report this review -

To the guy (and his poor friend Angel) that jumped off the rocks into the water dislocating (or possibly breaking) his shoulder.I pray you made it to the emergency room. This is a dangerous spot. It's so cool to explore and hike. Just use common sense- Please.

What an awesome suprise. I've been trying to come here for years and it really was more than I expected. I think the spring weather with all the flowers and snow in the mountains on the way in just added to the experience. The staff was very friendly and informative and they have some nice displays and live creatures at the visitors center.
The trails were a series of well maintained switchbacks down to a nice little creek then a walk up the creek and back up some more switchbacks and Bob's your uncle about 45 minutes if you don't want to stop.response / report this review -

I go here at least once a month. Sometimes with friends or I just meet friendly folks along the trail. Always take my dog. The trails are all in good shape and well-maintained. The Loop Trail is a lot of fun, only 1 mile long. If we ever get rain/snow here, the creek at the bottom will have running water! The Devil's Chair hike is about 7.5 miles round trip. Plenty of great views on both trails, so take plenty of pictures!
There's a nice little visitors center with snakes & owls & other critters! They have moonlight hikes once a month (check their website). They staff are knowledgeable & probably the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Just a Great place for outdoor family fun.
Just a side note, if you bring your dog, make sure you clean up after them!response / report this review
