This place is a gem, I came to San Diego just for their taco as last time I was here the line was just too long and I'd miss my flight back then. Today I planned wisely, line wasn't bad at all 10 min top, and I got the most amazing juicy taco human can imagine!! I also got a tamale, chorrizo con huevo, and a burrito, and I ate it all by myself (and I'm a skinny woman who could easily survive a few days on this much food). I've also gotten 2 dozens of tortillas that I'm taking to Seattle in my checked luggage as I'm typing this 😃. All that for literally 20 bucks. You can't go wrong with this place. And the ladies who work there are super nice.

I have only stopped in long enough to order, pick-up & be on my way. But the Food is "Up There".(meaning it's good stuff). And the atmosphere is great.
Anytime I'm around there I stopped in to eat.

Ran across this place on a ten best article for San Diego. Did not disappoint. Live was very long but well worth the wait. They really hustle inside to get you served fast. I had a chicken and a pork taco. Both were great but I preferred the pork by a slight bit. Would definitely recommend and return!

They have a great little set up at this place. Plenty of seating (at least when I was there around 11am on a Friday), I was worried about seating because the line outside. Speaking of the line, it moves fairly quickly because the super efficient style of serving food, you have your food by the time you pay! I tried the rolled tacos, I haven't been much of a fan of rolled tacos, but these are stuffed and delicious. I also tried a taco which was good. However, I absolutely loved the tamales, probably the best I've had!
The menu is a little vague, for example one item on the menu, tacos, it just says tacos after asking, it seem chicken and pork are the only two meat options here for all items.
People in line raved about the place when I asked if they had been there before.
So however true it is that the line is long, it moves pretty quickly and is worth the 5-10 minute wait. Also, two of us had a meal and beverage for less than $15, it was $12 something and that's unheard of in San Diego. The prices coupled with incredibly good food is likely why the line is always long and why this place has been in business since the 1930's!
One downside is that it is CASH ONLY! Make sure you have cash so you're not disappointed when you find out before you order. In any event, this place is one of the best I've had in San Diego!response / report this review -

If you like rolled tacos or anywhere near as obsessed with them as I am, YOU MUST COME HERE! These are hands down the best rolled tacos; the amount and quality of marinated pulled chicken is unlike any other. Then they take it one step further by perfecting the crunch of the fresh tortillas. Lastly, to top it off they add a good amount of lettuce, cheese and sauces.
The only downfall is you have to order rice and beans as a side and the beans are pinto (not black). However, they make up for this by adding chorizo and dishing you a hearty portion.response / report this review -

As authentic as it comes, especially for an east coaster. Hit this place up on my trip to San Diego. The wait wasn't too bad. Bring cash! Seating is family style. Definitely go here for the true local and authentic mexican food experience.

After seeing all the gushing reviews of how authentic the tacos were here, I was excited to try it, and disappointed when served up some American-style hard tacos. They're good hard tacos, but in my opinion, still pale in comparison to real Mexican-style tacos.

Cash only! Delicious hot authentic Mexican food! My absolute favorite is the tamale, bean and rice bowl! Fantastic tortillas that you can take with you! The line is always way out the door but the wait is definitely worth it and goes pretty fast! Phenomenal food for a ridiculously inexpensive price!

Great authentic rolled tacos. Note that the restaurant is cash only, menu is pretty limited, and that there is usually a long line. Nevertheless, it is worth the wait, and their dishes are very well priced.

By far the best tacos I've ever had. I could live off of this food for LIFE. Hole in the wall, worth the wait and you can't beat the price. I will visit this place every time I'm in San Diego

You got to get there early for the Menudo. Which I have been wanting to try. The tamales are delicious. The wait time is pretty long but if you have a craving for some real homemade authentic Mexican food this is the place to be at.

This is my first time here. We drive by all the time. Came in and they were pretty busy. The staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Chipotle nachos and they were very good. I would definitely recommend coming here and I will be back as well.
