Coming From Iowa, this restaurant fulfill my need of getting spicy Chinese food. Every thing in the menu is amazing!

First time at this location and hugely disappointed. Had four dishes and three had the exact same chili sauce as the only seasoning with a few chives. Not very spicy and no sign of the famous peppercorns that give szechuan good it's appealing zing. Luckily there are a few places within 100 yards where you can do way better. Sad because the old location at the other end of the mall was my feature with innovative seasoning and plenty of ma la.

Great food. Friendly service. Busy and noisy. No atmosphere. Go there for really good, authentic Szechuan food. Extensive menu.

Food was good. Service was horrible, ignore us for a great while, finally she came to get our order very unfriendly person. Ignored the 4 times we ask for water. But they were quick to charge me 18% in tip and it was a party of 3. Not sure if that is against the law but I will look into it. I will not return.

Food was good but not worth it. The service is terrible. They were unattentive all night and so we were barely served. They staff sat at the table near us in a group being loud and not waiting our table. After that kind of service I'm sorry we're not leaving a large tip. Then one of them yelled at my fiancee and demanded more and kept going until he increased the tip. Never again. Don't go here its a trap.

I finally came to Lao Sze Chuan after reading numerous good reviews. This place is overrated. But the food here is quite disappointing. We ordered dry chili chicken, blood pudding, beef trips in chili broth, both are typical Sichuan specialties. The chili broth is very spicy but lack of flavor, chicken is too dry and I suspect the chicken isn't fresh enough. Will never come back to this restaurant again.

Delicious food, but the service was lacking. Had to spend time trying to flag down a server just to get my water refilled. To reiterate though, food was incredible

The prices are so bad. They charged me for rice and ice water. Mostly for sucking the money out of ignorant tourists. Decent taste but they excessively add oil and fats. I hope people who eat here don't die of heart attack.

The food gets 5 stars--everything I've ever tried here has been excellent. I particularly like the lamb with pure cumin, or the mapo tofu. But in person, the service last I went was pretty terrible. We waited a long time to order, then someone came to the table and we started to order only for her to abruptly say she couldn't take our order and run off? So we waited some more, confused. Then after the meal, they packed up our leftovers, but only some of them--when we got home, we discovered they had not given us the rice or one of the dishes we hadn't finished, and there had been quite a bit left that we would rather not have wasted. Overall a really underwhelming dining experience. I would highly recommend the food for delivery, but not for dining in.

Authentic. Warning that the one chili on the menu is hotter than you would expect so don't order the 3 chili items unless you like heat. Menu was huge. Go with someone who knows what to order the first time to get the best experience. Very typical Chinese service.

Great for authentic Szechuan. The dry chili chicken is the signature. I recommend any of the Chef's specials as they are always very good. Great place to bring new friends visiting Chicago.

The service was poor and they still expected a tip at the end.The waitresses we had didn't speak English to the point where I could ask about the menu and get a decent response. I don't know if she just wasn't having a good day, or she was rude because we weren't Asian, but I won't be eating here again. The food was ok, and after asking our waitress to pack up some of our food she threw some out and I didn't realize until I got home and my pot stickers (not even that great, but still) We're missing. I came here after watching a review on YouTube expecting excellent food and good service, unfortunately for me it was quite the opposite

Ordered the typical takeout. Orange chicken and shrimp fried rice. The orange chicken was very bland and the shrimp fried rice had way too much onion! And the shrimp were rubbery and soft, under cooked. Gross. Nice portions of whack food. I've found another good spot that hooks it up. Chi cafe a few doors down. I want more of their food already. Two nights in a row. 😊

I love Sechuan food and this place has the right stuff. I had a boiled fish soup which was delicious! There was too much food as we also got an appetizer, so they neatly packager it all for me to go. The service was good as Chinese places go. They gave us enough time to look through their truly impressive menu. The food arrived quickly and was spicy and flavourful. I'll definitely come here again.
