This campground was beautiful! I have no idea where the bad reviews were staying , but it couldn't have been here.
The showers were very esthetically pleasing with decent water pressure and no lines. Behind the second curtain was the actual shower. There were no over the showerhead plastic holders but everything was so clean I didn't mind putting the toiletries on the edge of the shower. The campsites were open and spacious. The electric boxes were backwards so we had to drive the motor home in instead of backing it in so the cord reachedno big deal. The campground was very well spaced so we did not feel like we were sitting on top of our neighbors. There was free wifi although we never had the need.
We got stranded on Isle Royal due to weather and the young lady made sure the girl watching my dog was aware and that my dog was still being cared for!
When we finally returned the owner did not charge us for a late checkout because of the boat delay. I definitely will be back!!!!
Definitely recommend!
Love staying here. Beds are nice. Room is a bit dated but so what, go outside. Great view of Lake Fanny Hooe. I stay on the 2nd floor so I can leave the balcony door open and let the breeze come in. Parking is good. Area is quiet and it's a quick 3 min walk to center of town.
Nice place but the management is bad to put it nicely. They where hostel and threatened to ban us from camping in the future because a neighboring site had chopped firewood and left some wood chips in the grass. The other site had no association with us aside from being from the same city.
After our next stay, some of our group was showering while we checked out. An employee berated them and again threatened to ban us because even though it was before checkout time, we had checked out at the office and where no longer allowed to use any facilities with out paying for an extra day.
The site is beautiful, but I can not recommend staying until they are under new management.
It is an RV Campground, tents included. 30 amp and water hook up in most sites. A few sites also have sewer. Has a dump station, nice clubhouse with vending machines, and a couple game machines. Very nice and clean bathroom and shower rooms. Coin operated laundry room. The sites are all gravel, some with grass also, but seem to be pretty level. There are little stores, some restaurants, put, put golf. It right on Fanny Hope Lake, which is breath taking and crystal clear. There are hiking and bike trails. Brockway Mountain is not far away. I'd come back.
Nice place, but the owners are very petty. I watched them kick a nice couple out of the campground because their parents didn't pay the $4 visitor fee unintentionally. They offered to pay and were told to get out. Called the sheriff on the people. They didn't do anything wrong!
I had to stay in the overflow the 1st night and was charged full price ($34) for a parking lot. I can stay in Walmart parking lot free.
Beautiful location at the top of the upper peninsula of Michigan for camping and outdoor sports summer and winter!
Ownership here is a joke. We were told we couldn't come back because we left unburned firewood on the site. If you have guests at your campsite they have to pay to be on the property. State campground down the road is less expensive and showers are included in the camp fee. I will never stay at fanny hooe again.
This is a wonderful campground. Reasonable site fees with water at every site, showers, restrooms, and within walking distance to beautiful downtown Copper Harbor. I love it here.
Last time we were here we had a great experience loved our spot, people were nice the place is a little dated but overall a nice experience. We just tried booking again for this year and the owner got on the phone and asked us if we had visitors in a green Jeep while we were here last time (yea it's as creepy as it sounds) apparently they took note that a couple of our friends that lived up there and visited with us had been there. They only came for dinner and then promptly left. They were there about three hours and were off our campsite by a little after 9 p.m. Apparently we were supposed to pay for they to come visit us but one we had no knowledge of this and two the owner was extremely rude and expected us to pay for it this time. Really? We are returning customers, we would have paid if we had know or if she wasn't so rude. They never said anything to us about it on our last stay, why not let us know then? Like I said we did really like this place and would have come back for years to come but now we will not be returning. Listen to the reviews. We love the area and it's amazing to visit but go somewhere where you will be appreciated or better yet respected.
Best place to camp in Copper Harbor! We read some of the previous reviews and were a little discouraged, but we knew we didn't want to camp at a loud and rambunctious state park so we decided to give Fanny Hooe a try anyways and we are so glad we did! We came up for my birthday early June and had a wonderful stay. It was our first visit to Fanny Hooe and we had a great time. Very clean restroom and shower area, walking distance into the town and the lady at the front desk gave us tons of information about the town and what we should see and do. We have already booked another stay later this summer and can't wait to return. I'm not sure where some of these reviews come from, the owners were nothing but nice and we were informed of all policies over the phone and at check-in. We will be back in August!!
