Great place to eat. Expect to pay a lot here but the service and food quality reflects that. My husband is a burger guy and said the burger was good but not necessarily something that one should spend 14 dollars on. The staff were attentive and made the experience great.
First impressions mean a lot as far as gaining new customers. In this instance I must say I was sadly let down.
We have recently moved from the Chicago area and we have been desperate to find a good sushi place since leaving. We have not had a lot of time to venture out and my husband's coworker suggested this place. This visit was to be a nice gesture on my husband's behalf to introduce me to a small snippet of what Indiana has to offer in the dining scene.
We traveled almost 20min and had our phone # entered to wait for a table. We were told 30 min initially so we wandered about and waited. We returned and inquired again and was told 10-15 more minutes., when that passed we inquired again.
After seeing several table tops of three that arrived after us being sat before us (yes I know three is more than two, but even basic tables can seat up to 4 and should be first come first served) we had enough.
My poor husband profusely apologized as we left and now he felt he had to scramble to find a suitable substitution to salvage our first date night in Indy. We had to drive all the way back home to dine at a local spot that he was aware of who's food we sadly discovered, was marginally acceptable, but the place had far better and prompt service than we found at kona.
My husband has worked the gamut of food service jobs and managed in fine dining so I know the difference between a poorly and well run establishment and this has to be the former.
We are debating on ever trying again.
We wanted good fresh sushi. We found it this evening. Thank you. Service was on point. Everything we were looking for.
Moderately priced, great tasting sushi. Drinks are amazing here! And there are half-off bottles of wine on Wednesdays!
Kona was AMAZING! We had a party of 18 to come in and celebrate our small wedding, Mandy took our reservation for 7pm. We arrived a little early but were immediately seated in the party room in the back that was already set with waters available for everyone and boosters, high-chairs and a basket for a car seat for all the kids. Mel was our server and she did PHENOMENAL!! She was fast, friendly, kept everyone's drinks full, keep the night moving along, even offered to get the kids food going first so they could get to eating. Due to her diligence with the management team as wel she was able to provide an AMAZING surprise for us as a newlywed couple and the whole table. I will absolutely return to Kona Grill, and will recommend to anyone. The service was great, and the food was outstanding! It came out quick, everything was cooked to perfection. My new husband loves nothing more that a medium-RARE steak and made multiple comments about how well his was cooked.
It was a great experience and the whole team at Kona killed it!! 🙌🏻
One of the best restaurants I've ever visited, love their happy hour specials and their food is fantastic. Adam was our bartender tonight he was fast, kind, and very helpful, best customer service! They have a wonderful staff at Kona Grill.
As a Kona regular, I am extremely irritated by the latest menu changes. Kona got rid of a classic Caesar salad, that had Parmesan crisps I craved, and topped with either grilled shrimp or salmon was THE perfect meal. They also mixed the clam chowder and shrimp diablo. Please - bring this stuff back. Or lose me forever. There are plenty of other dining options close by.
Food is always good. The service is reliable. Good fish and salads. The kids bento box is a great deal and cute to boot. Very loud in the evenings. Not great for conversation.
Went here for appetizer and happy hourwebsite stated happy hour was 3-7, however the server told us it was really at 10pm but they had some drink specials going, which really were not that special. We ordered a margarita that was on "special", I think I paid $5.75 for a small glass of lemonade. Server was not very pleasant and seemed annoyed that we wanted to share an appetizer. However, the avacdo rolls were amazing, which is how I gave this review a 2-star. Will not be returning.
We tried to eat here, but it never happened. Restaurant wasn't to busy, so we were willing to wait. The greeter wanted my telephone number. I said she couldn't have it. She wanted to text us when a table was available. I told her no. We were sitting in front of her station. I was told this was the only way we would be told. We left. Great system Kona.
Love the Sushi. One of my favorite places to eat.
Good menu. Service is decent in main dining area. Not as much fun to go to the bar area near fish tank. Creativity is the soul of the menu. The menu and the facility are certainly nice.
Do read their last County health Inspection, They have had fruit fly problem for a period of time recently and also had unlabeled water and pink chemical bottles around the premise.
UPDATE: I am not going back again, the busser contaminates the drink stations by splashing around the quat sanitizer bucket. Should be separate. New rule for myself: Dont eat at restaurants unless last resort. Make everything at home.
OMG!!!! This restaurant is my favorite in the world! My husband, daughter and I went for family dinner tonight and we are ate ode with Kona Grill! The GM Christian and my waitress Chasiti were AMAZING!!!! I have not received service like tonight ever!!!! Thank you and see you soon. Kona will be my husband and I date night as long as we are in Indianapolis!! 🍚🍥🍰🍤🥑🍛🍱
The sushi is phenomenal. The service was great. Miso soup is very good. The carrot cake is the best ever tasted! That alone is worth a trip here. Will definitely be back.
It's a great place but I it's a little pricey. The Macadamia Nut Chicken is great but almost $20 per plate with salad as an extra is a little too much. That said I'll be back.
