Everyone should go to Knob Creek at least once during the bi-annual machine gun shoot. I enjoy the professionalism of the range safety officers and the spacious range. I also enjoy browsing in their store where they don't try to gouge you just because you need to purchase targets or more ammunition.

I've always had a good experience with the people at Knob creek. The range officer is tough, but he needs to be tough or else some dummy will end up killing somebody on the range. Salesmen have always been courteous and more than willing to teach me about guns and show me anything I wanted to see. Love the machine gun shoot! Best gun store in America!

Great outdoor range. Staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Range fees are reasonable, especially if you're active or retired military. If you shoot a lot, annual membership is a.great value. Tends to get crowded quickly on weekends, so best to get there early, or during the week. Attending the biannual machine gun shoot and gun show should be on any gun guy or gal's bucket list.

Today was my first and last time going to this range. Starting with the positive it is only $10 for a all day range pass.

Now on to the negative.
The prices for anything inside the shop are beyond over priced. anyone with access to google can find guns, ammo, accessories, anything to do with shooting for 25-50% less at another retailer.

The range staff seem to think they are "the range gods. They speak as if you are uneducated about weapon safety. ( I'm a retired combat veteran)
so I know how to safely handle my weapons. I understand that this is a privately owned range, and they have the liberty to set whatever rules they want to. but threatening to boot you from the range because you weren't standing on the magic orange line? lets be realistic
they yelled at my wife like she was a child because she was standing an inch past the magic protective yellow line when they called cease fire.

The shooting tables are very close together, as I was hit with hot brass from the guy shooting an M-1 next to me, they are also very low to the ground. If you've ever had a hot ejected casing go down your shirt, you'll understand.

The range boss (knowing that he has little to no brains of his own) seems to be on a power trip. Yelling with his microphone at you like your stupid.
Some advice for people who want to go here
1. Don't step over the magic painted lines in the range.
2. Don't stand too close to the range boss.. he is currently boycotting the use of dental hygiene supplies.
3. Don't attempt to have a logical, or friendly conversation with the range staff. Their combined intelligence is as much as you could expect from inbreed, sister-screwing, circle-jerk hero, retarded, rednecks. You'll get farther arguing with the wind.

Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else to have an enjoyable time. Paying 10X as much at another range is better than being treated the way this place will treat you.

I've been here several times as it is one of the closest outdoor ranges to Louisville, but every time I've been it has been a negative experience. The pros are the range is cheap for $10 a day, and it is about 300 yards long so for long range precision shooting this is a good place. They also allow exploding targets and full auto which are both pluses but that is where the positives stop.

The shop is very knowledgeable on most regards, but the sales staff is very pushy. They are about as expensive as it gets for firearms, ammo and accessories. I noticed some new guns were even marked above MSRP, which is insane considering the price you can get them for is much cheaper in many gun shops locally. Ammo/Mags are marked up through the roof. This is clearly a price gouge based on the shops reputation/fame and they likely prey on the inexperienced firearm owners and new buyers. Shop elsewhere if you can. KyGunCo is a great local option and is not that much further away from Louisville and you will save money across the board.

Onto the range. The range is nice, clean and long but the range masters are over the top. I'm all for safety but the way they treat their customers and lack of understanding of shooting style is insane. They require you to wear safety glasses at all times but doing long range shooting with plastic glasses is exactly pleasant or even worthy of doing. You have to stand on a line or shoot awkwardly from the side of a table when seated at all times or risk being kicked out the range. I even had a range master come up to me as I was shooting and roughly grab my shoulder to tell me to step on the line or I was kicked out. I was maybe an inch backwards of the line. I understand that this a private business that can make up any rules they like but this is also at the cost of customers. It is not a pleasant shooting experience. Some people may love this place but not me and I will not be returning for the point of insane price gouging and sub par customer service.

Why to rude to your customers? Even if our experience is little low with firearms you don't have to be that much rude, you could've said in a Nice Way, "Sir if you don't know how to shoot please step aside,instead of saying if "you don't do this I'll kick you out" . Guys this is business., .. I am so sorry for going to knob creek. If you guys keep treating your customers this way I bet you won't see a lot of us anymore.

A wonderful experience if you love guns or just own one. If you love history, they have artillery vehicles occasionally. I love this place, I visited it 15 years ago. I really want to go again, I watch the videos put up about it every year. Great fun for a family.

Went with a friend, made it to a firing table and within 5 mins, this happened to my friend who hadn't even laid hands on his gun yet
"GET OFF THE LINE!!!
"What'd i do??"
"GET OFF THE LINE!! I'M NOT GONNA F***ING TELL YOU AGAIN!!!"
"Sir, what did i do??"
"WHERE'S YOUR F***ING STAMP?!?"
That's when i noticed neither one of us had been stamped upon leaving the office.
"Sir, i (myself) didn't get stamped either."
"GO INSIDE AND GET STAMPED!!! TELL THEM I SAID SO!!!"

Things happen and sometimes ppl forget so i wasn't upset with the inside staff at all, but this dude (firing line officer) was a straight A**HOLE about it. He DID NOT have to initiate it that way and bcuz of that, i won't return. Had a good first experience a couple wks ago but today's visit did me in.

This outdoor gun range has what you want when it comes to handguns and rifles of all sorts. It's not a cute gun range but it has what you need especially if you have a larger caliber rifle. The prices seem to be creeping up but other than that this is a good place to get some target practice or just exercise your weapons.

Range officer 90 percent of the time will be agressive and rude even when it has nothing to do with safety. Owner was very polite, but his staff is ok kinda makes u feel uncomfortable sometimes if u didn't know much about guns. Admission price is cheap; ammo is kinda high, and guns are mid range priced. Must be with a parent to shoot a handgun if you're not 21, but not that way at indoor ranges

If your looking for a good gun shop this place is great. Great selection of guns, and accessories. I buy all of my guns there. They also offer great concealed carry classes. They also have a good selection of rental guns if you want to test a gun before buying one. I've done that for all the handguns I bought from them. But the way the range is ran sucks. The whole range is ran on a timer. Every 30 minutes they call a 10 minute cease fire for setting targets. Which leaves you 15--20 minutes to shoot before stopping again. Also pay close attention to the range rules.
The range officer can be REALLY strict .I almost got kicked off the range my first time there .

The range it's self sounds fine, cheap price for all day. Wanted to go for my husbands birthday. I called to ask a couple questions as we have never been there before. I talked to Rich on the phone and he was rude and a smart elic. Needless to say we will make other plans.
