Took a handful of minutes to get seated although there were vacant tables. Told that they were short staffed so that is understandable.
Once we were seated it took 10 minutes for someone to get our drink order. The nice waitress advised that she was not out server but saw us sitting there is was going to help our server. Took another 10 minutes to get drinks.
Once our waitress came to our table she apologized and said they were short staffed. Understandable. She took our food order.
After about 30 minutes of waiting for our food we realized that tables that came in after us were eating. When asked about our order the waitress told us that she accidently threw out our order without giving it to the kitchen. She had to collect our order again.
Once we got our food it was hot and dress. Decent menu options.
Great ambiance, food was good, great service. I can see why it's a popular stop! Neat nuance with the dollar bills!
Dollar bill decorations aren't worth the poor service and mediocre food. Besides kinda dirty. We specifically asked for no pork on our shrimp n grits and they decided we wanted sausage. When we sent one back because there is no way in hell she could tolerate any pork at all, we got attitude. They picked off the sausage and re-served it which is unacceptable. No apologies just attitude. Fish tacos were limp. Crab stuffed flounder was awful greasy and gave that person bad memories, if you knoe what I mean. We were told "next time" you should order shrimp n grits separately. There won't be a next time.
Great food, she crab soup was fantastic, so was lobster pie. service is hit or miss. Been coming here since I was a kid, food is always great, service can be incredibly slow but was very fast (immediate) on my last visit. Good selection of cocktails.
The view is the one star. The place is an over priced dive. Might be ok for drinks on the deck but the food was horrible. Baked crab cakes are greasy, crab stuffed flounder is actually bland flounder wrapped around mushy uncooked crab cake mix, veggie melody is cooked cabbage (where’s the melody?) I don’t mind paying for a good meal. $50 tab for a $10 or less meal.
Good location for those coming back from Hunting Island. Food is average fried items. Great views of the marsh. Dollar bills plastered everywhere is a bit tacky, but that's what they are aiming for. It was ok but not sure we would return.
This was an awesome little lunch place. After reading numerous reviews that weren't really consistent.. we decided to take the chance, as it's the closest to the campground. It's really charming and classic marsh-view dining. We stopped in for lunch, about noon and it wasn't super busy - definitely started filling up as we were there though. Nothing special with the drinks, just basic. I got the fresh catch of the day sandwich - which was blackened grouper and it was REALLY GOOD. My beau got the crab cake sandwich and was pleased but underwhelmed. Staff was friendly, timing and service was decent. Overall a great little place to grab a meal on Hunting Island.
The good thing is, the place hasn't changed in years. The dollar bills on the ceiling gives this place a quaint, old school coolness. I feel like the food is pricey for what is offered. Just good old cheap bar food would better fit the atmosphere.
We celebrated our anniversary of their house on 3 July with some friends we had a great time the walls are in ceilings are all covered with money it's a sign to be able we enjoyed ourselves
Excellent food, always.service a bit on The slow side but definitely worth the waiting! Eat here every time we come down here.for many years now. Will definitely return!
This is a casual restaurant with an interesting atmosphere, and very close to Hunting and Fripp Islands, making it an ideal place for dinner after a long day at the beach. The service was pretty good, and all employees were friendly and helpful. Regarding the food, the cornbread offered to guests while waiting on your food order was particularly appetizing. Unfortunately, you get only the first serving free. The Seafood Alfredo was tasty overall, as the sauce and shrimp/scallops were flavorful, but it was served on what appeared to be overcooked spaghetti noodles. A more traditional pasta noodle for this dish, cooked properly, would have better suited my palate. The Stuffed Flounder was also delicious. But the vegetables didn't seem to be fresh, and were otherwise unremarkable.
In summary, I would definitely recommend a stop here for dinner if you happen to be vacationing in the area. It can get busy at dinner time, so plan accordingly.
Great food and quick service. I Had a flounder sandwich and fries. Fresh and hot and delicious. The setting is relaxed with beautiful views great place to stop innfor a bite alone or bring a large group. Lots of room to accommodate.
Decor? Dollar bills all over the walls! I love it! I just stopped in for a Corona after a day at the beach, so I can't speak on the food or much else. I just enjoyed the atmosphere. Bar tender was also very friendly. I'd go back again for sure.
