Beautiful island. Birds, shells, sand dollars, horseshoe crabs, fish. Very natural, miles of walkable beach. Friendly staff warned us of cucumber cacti (not sand spurs), which have inch-long thorns (don't stray off trails without boots). Views of the bridge, ship's mast coming out of sand. Small detour from interstate. Great place.
Love this place! Friendly people. Nice gifts.
It was really nice, bought 4 postcards & staff mailed them off for me.
Visited on the way off the island but it was nice. The staff were friendly and we used the bathroom and drinks facilities. There's a fair bit of things to buy there (t-shirts etc) and a viewing station across the water/marsh.
The island is the best place to spend time So much to do be sure to go to the historical part so beautiful and the shops have so much to offer.
Excellent stop on the way in or out of Jekyll Island. Lots of gifts and souvenirs are available, and the staff is friendly and helpful answering any of your questions.
The staff was very sweet and nice and patient with the two 9-year olds traveling with me. Each had a little money to spend on souvenirs and they looked and touched almost every piece of jewelry on display. The staff seemed to be knowledgeable about the area and statics regarding the island size, etc. Very nice experience.
The people were nice and I totally understand giving out information but when both cashiers are tied up giving out info that leaves tbe customers that are buying either waiting awhile or walking out. I chose to walk out. I think a kiosk with someone giving out ONLY info would be nice. Especially on the weekends.
I grew up locally and have been coming here for 30+ years. I even guarded at Summer Waves one summer between college semesters. When I come to the Welcome Center it's typically to buy my annual pass or obtain a temporary pass. The staff has always been friendly and efficient. They have a wide variety of items in the gift shop. From cute little trinkets to artwork, there's something for just about everyone.
when checking on room prices at The Westin on Jekyll island, waited for five minutes for reservationist to reappear with prices/info. two gentlemen escorted me to desk as asked me what my business I had in the hotel. I am sure as a guest it is comforting to know security is on site; however, as a new guest, the experience was a little intimidating and off-putting. my wife was not pleased to learn of the welcome we received so we stayed somewhere else for probably the same amount we had been willing to pay at The Westin. thanks, didn't know things had changed That Much! best regards, an island family
A most stop for you first visit. Very helpful staff to inform you of all you to do and see to enhance your stay.
Friendly staff, and very cute stuff in the gift shop.
Great view and people are great here
Great stuff in the gift shop. Unfortunately only about half of the employees are nice.
