Had an awful experience! Made reservations a week ahead of time for my birthday, requesting a window table. Got there 15 minutes early, at 4:45 and they'd already given away all window tables so we had to take something else. Ordered drinks and twice got something that I didn't order so finally just got wine. The food was not good, could barely get it down but as I hadn't had lunch, I got it down. No "Happy Birthday" dessert or anything! I had a $15 off coupon that I had given to our server in the beginning, didn't realize until on the way home that he hadn't subtracted from our over $100 bill even! All in all NOT a good experience especially on my birthday!
A good brunch place, super packed on Sundays, make sure you make reservations. The seafood stew was good and plentiful. A good flavorful broth as well. Get the hula pie! It’s so good, Oreo crust and ice cream with chocolate over it.
This is our second time at Jakes, and they didn’t disappoint. We visit San Diego frequently, and we wanted to give this place a second try on our recent trip. The food was delicious, and our server, Greg, was attentive and very friendly. Especially loved that he went out of his way to get us a Hula Pie to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. Will absolutely be back!
Very nice and flavorful food. I had the vegan curry based dish from the menu. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Service is excellent also. The restaurant is right on the beach with an amazing view. Couldn’t have had a better dining experience. Look forward to coming back again.
Amazing service. Amazing views. Fantastic food. The staff was exceptionally friendly. We reserved a table and came early, and asked if we could move up our reservation (of course understanding if they couldn't), but to our delight, we were quickly seated to a great table.
Great place. Stunning views directly on to the beach. Spectacular sun sets. Nice food. I prefer the sea food there.
Great restaurant in Del Mar!! The view and atmosphere is amazing!! The rock fish tacos and hula pie is so good!! Took a star away due to the servers seem almost too stoic and unfriendly. The service is fine but feels uncomfortable when you ask them for anything. Frequent this restaurant often and seem to get servers like this every time.
Absolutely the best!! The food was great and the views are incomparable. Definitely recommend a walk on the beach and then finish with dinner at this lovely place. The sunset photo was taken from my dinner table. Just amazing.
Lovely bar area for heavy canapes or a small hanger steak plate and cocktails. The oceanview is the best I have ever experienced for happy hour. Staff? We were pretty much ignored. It last minute were delighted to find it but if you are not a regular, well, I wouldn't expect any service, let alone BAD service.
The worst service ever. While waiting for the rest of our party we sit down in the bar area and requested an appetizer menu. We got the menu and our first round of drinks but the server never returned to our table. We could see a group of servers standing by the bar chatting and having a good time. Good thing the sunset was beautiful. This place is a good candidate for Bar Rescue.
Exactly what I wanted a great meal on the beach. This pace is perfect. I love the deck. Parking is crazy but it's worth it.
While you eat their fabulous food, you also get a beautiful view of the ocean. In the day time, you'll see surfers enjoying the waves. It's a very relaxing atmosphere while dining.
We order the fish tacos and the tostadas; both were great. I had a something mule and the wife entire a nice margarita, both were well prepared and tasty. The Calamari appetizer was very good too. Very good place overall and the view of the ocean is perfect.
The food, atmosphere and the ocean view, perfect.
However, we were with another couple. Asked for separate checks, OK. Our orders for drinks, food, and dessert all came out disjointed. We were eating in front of our friends. We had a feeling that our waiter knew the flow wasn't going well. So, I got the b day Hula Pie, while our friends sat and waited for her lemon tart. Our waiter comped the lemon tart.
And was apologetic. Might have been a bad day for the kitchen and bar, it was busy. But this was a first for us as the many times we have been there before.
Things do go wrongAnd just can't catch up.
Sorry, Jake's.
The friend with me liked Jakes better than I did. I thought it was too loud. The food was pears in unique ways that didn't suite my preferences. Others liked theirs very well, though. The view of the ocean is wonderful.
