Don't go here, because it probably means you're sick. But if you are sick then definitely go. Lol. Of the area hospitals it's a good hospital for adults. Not the best for pediatrics.

ER room chairs for visitors aren't meant to be comfortable but when you have to sit for hours waiting for news of test results they are really, really uncomfortable. And it's freezing in the hospital. Don't forget to dress warm.

I'm glad to see they are making improvements in the parking lot, but are they making more visitor parking spots? There's never enough parking spots for visitors. And rows and rows of unused doctor parking spots.

BEWARE OF DECEPTIVE BILLING PRACTICES!!! I was there for an outpatient procedure back in June and was thrilled that they were giving me the option of paying up front for a 20% discount. I asked several times if this was the only bill I was going to receive from the hospital and was told absolutely any other bills would be from individual doctors or lab fees etc! I have received three separate bills for three different amounts from the hospital itself. I just got a bill for almost triple the amount I already paid and no discount for anything was applied. Tried to speak to several people and got NO help except to say that they can only give me an estimate ahead of time. Well, the estimate was almost $1000 off. Also, one person in billing went as far as to say this happens all the time and that they get complaints like mine regularly. Will keep trying to get answers but if you are given a choice -stay away and find a facility that is not so shady.

Well first of all i just Want to say I’ve never been treated so poorly at a hospital. I feel Like i was Discriminated because of the reason i was Here, they didn’t give me a nicotine patch for the first 24 hours and then when i want To go to the vending machine they said no, so i went anyways. Then i get Moved to the back of the wing where you have to have a badge to leave the area like I’m in jail. I definitely won’t be coming back here ..

Two years have passed now as of this week and I continue focus on the rude and unprofessional conduct of the staff who were attending to my husband of 36years in the cardiac Cath lab. The end result of the procedure was that "his heart ruptured and we couldn't save him" At one point the nurse had no problem coming to me to tell me "the doctor wants you to know it doesn't look good" as she then proceeded to walk away I ask to be with him and was denied to stand with him because of "policy". I saw the fear in his eyes and heard his plea for me to stay with him but as a nurse myself knew I had to wait outside during the procedure and I assured him I would be right there. However as a nurse myself I can not imagine being told by a doctor to go and give the heads up that "it doesn't look good" and then in good conscious be able to deny that need to spend those final moments together. Policy does not account for such heartless behavior. I can not forgive myself and continue to suffer the fact of not being there for him. The treatment after they brought him to me was even worse. I still see him with the tube in his mouth, arms hanging down over the stretcher, and all they could tell me was " you need to remove his jewelry. To this day I would never again set foot in this hospital.

I have to side with the negative reviews of this facility. Specifically:

Lack of visitor parking. There's plenty of parking if you're a doctor.

Airport-style security - Slow, invasive, and spectacularly unnecessary.

No chairs in the rooms - It's obvious that JFK wants to do everything they can to make visiting as painful as possible and I believe that's deliberate.

The Masters of Overcharges - You will get big bills with no explanation or supporting documentation. You can't dispute them without talking to someone in billing but billing never answers the phone or returns calls. Brilliant!

Before West Palm took on the JFK name, it was a better hospital. Now that it's JFK North, the service has degraded to match JFK MC. So, this is no accident and specific to the JFK name.

JFK is a living, breathing example of why we should socialize medicine in this country.

Gave birth to my daughter last November 2016, I was very happy with my choice and I would make it again for sure. The nurses were amazing and accommodating!! Very informative as well, they read my birth plan, were very supportive and helped me through everything, I felt like I was definitely in good hands. The rooms were private and very spacious for family and friends. My only complaint was toward my doctor, but let me be clear the Hospital is not to blame. If I would've chosen someone who would've actually shown up, their would be no complaint. The doctor on call didn't know me and was rude, he didn't bother to read my birth plan, just glanced at it (I didn't ask for much, or anything unreasonable.) He sat there the whole time on his phone until it was "time" and refused to let me give birth my way. My ONLY regret is NOT going psycho on his ass by yelling at him to leave my room immediately and let me delivery my child on my own (with the assistance of the nurses of course.) I had asked for a completely natural birth in ANY position except on my back. Which was very important to me.

One of the worst hospitals I have ever experienced. My mother is currently there, and I have seen mostly nurses and doctors (not all) who could care less about the patient. This the second time in the last year my mother has been treated like a disposable napkin. My mother was moved out of ICU into a unit where I walked down empty hallways. Two days later she was moved back down to ICU due to a doctor stating she was not ready to be moved out. Are you guys not reading all of the same complaints about your hospital? How would you like to be treated, or your loved ones to be treated like this? Not enough staff, and incapable of getting a complete answer from someone. Last straw was finding my mother in a bed of old feces, and a catheter which was not strapped to her leg and cause trauma to her bladder from moving around. I visited her the next day after they moved her, and saw her bag filled with blood, and guess what? The nurse blamed it on the patient. My mother can not bend, nor be mobile on her own. You need to invest in a better staff, and possibly staff who will care of the patients as if they were their own loved ones. Also, some of the older nurses have such a nasty jaded attitude towards any questions asked. You chose to have a career in the medical field, and the territory of having to answer to concerned family should've been expected. Maybe getting someone in there to clean house should be evaluated as soon as possible.

I went to JFK because I had chosen it as the place to have my daughter. From the moment i stepped in i was treated very well. All the nursing staff and the surgical team were awesome. They displayed what outstanding customer service looks and feels like. I would recommend JFK to anyone. Special recognition to the nursing staff on labor and deliveryDiane, Linda, Chris, Ali, Jackie, Dr Cavalaris, and Sally from Just for Kids. They ensured myself and the baby were well and had everything we needed. Also thank you to the surgical teamDr Siegfried, Todd, Javier, Christine, Linda, and the anastesiologist. They talked me through everything and i felt I was in good hands.

Got here at 11:00, with my friend in extreme pain, they gave her medicine and she has been waiting for over 2 hours for an ultrasound. Let's hope that nothing has ruptured.

The doctor came in, she said she was scared to go home in that pain and he said, well, don't think they'll admit ya unless it's acute. She said do you know when the ultrasound will be here and as he's walking out, he muttered "nope"

Told nurses that the meds made her very sick and I need a bucket and nausea medicine. 20 minutes later, still nothing. She rang the nurses button, still no one. Finally I went out there and said hello, I asked for a puke bucket and all the nurses were sitting there one was hanging out on an empty gurney

Best part, just watched a nurse walking by reading a paper and laughing at loud to her self. So unprofessional. No wonder they are rated the lowest hospital.

My mother is 94 and losing some faculties. She was transported to JFK today and was in the ED. I am a physician and her health care power of attorney. I called four times today. I was transferred around several times and to the ED twice. I was disconnected or the transfer went back to the operator three times. The last time, I called the ED and left my cell phone. It has been two hours and I've heard nothing. I've never heard of an ED or hospital functioning at such a low level.

My husband has been in JFK 5 times in the last 5 years while I have been there once. We have no complaints about the care. They are very complete in preparing the patient prior to admittance as to what to expect. No one was rude nor neglectful. Perhaps the experience is better in the South Tower because it is newer.

The care I received prepping for surgery and in my overnight stay was excellent. Nurses, doctors, everyone was helpful and kind.
One the con side, the electronic medical record website that patients can join and read and download their info, has several incorrect diagnoses and other items about me and I would like to know how to get that corrected. Can someone let me know who to contact to do that?
