The server Chris was very knowledgeable about the food, spirits and wine. I was expecting a modest lunch and was surprised by the price. I judge a restaurant based off of several factors one the host. She seemed aloof, however, she was polite. Chris the server saved the restaurant. He was not only tending bar he was a server. Very polite and respectful. I also grade the restaurant based on the size of the menu. As a rule if there is a smaller menu the chef takes pride in his work, which was apparent by the eclectic options. This place is not ideal for people who are gluten free. The chef does not make substitutions, however, this is a sign he is meticulous about food pairing and choosing the right ingredients. I ordered the lentels vegan options, and the combination of the spices satisfied the pallet with a contrast of robust seasonings and textures. I did not award J Ford's Black Angus more than 4 stars because of the lack of gluten free options and the unwelcoming host. To pay more than $40 on a vegan meal and coffee I expect everyone to be more accommodating.

Continues to be my favorite restaurant in Terre Haute year after year! 10 years in Chicago spoiled my palette, but Kelly, Jeff & team keep my cravings in check. I will definitely be heading in soon for a fix :)

It was our first visit, and we loved it . The staff was very friendly, my wife had the seafood special and she loved it. I had what is quite possibly, the best steak I have ever had.

This was our second time at this restaurant and I can honestly say it is hands-down amazing. The service is top-notch and the food is indescribable. You must try this place. It is not rushed and a little off the beaten path but that is why I like it the most. Carmel Indiana is full of restaurant wannabes and this place should earn a ribbon.

Steaks priced similar to Ruth's Chris, Del Frisco's and The Capital grill. No where near the level of service, quality or ambience. Very dark in the bar area.

Best restaurant in Terre Haute. The filet is amazing, the appetizers are tasty and the desserts are awesome. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Love it.

They're beyond expensive, don't come here and expect to spend less than $100 for a full course dinner for two. That being said, the food is absolutely phenomenal and the atmosphere is romantic.

If the food weren't so spectacular, this would be a three star rating.

This was quite possibly the worst (and most disrespectful) service I have ever experienced at any restaurant, anywhere in this country. I get the strong "small town mentality" but my gosh, ignorning customers sure isn't a way to gain new ones! We were scoping out a place to bring clients to this week while we're in town for work but we will happily be taking our business elsewhere. The next restaurant we went to tonight was flabbergasted that your establishment's staff was so completely unwelcoming towards us. It's unfortunate, the wine menu looked delightful! Like Jamie (I don't know her as I'm not from here) said below, it's a shame this restaurant operates the way they do! I expect this level of snootyness in cities like Los Angeles & San Francisco, I spend 6 months out of the year there for business and experience nothing but welcoming smiles and kind individuals. Small town hospitality must be a foreign concept to the staff at this establishment and it's unfortunate to see this disappearing. The icing on the cake was almost being run over by a (most likely intoxicated) patron leaving your establishment as we crossed the street to your restaurant, I'm talking feet away from running us over. What an awful Saturday night!

Exceptional! We are from out of town, but come to Terre Haute quite frequently! Not only is this the best food in town, but the best service! Last visit was the Friday before Valentine's Day, I had the Prime New York Strip, best steak I have EVER had anywhere! The service was warm, knowledgeable and professional. J Fords is a fine dining, casual restaurant that offers an experience not found often. There's no rush at dinner here, you are given time to enjoy each course I suggest if you are in a hurry pick another place. When you come to JFords you will want to enjoy the atmosphere, and savor the food while enjoying your company! Love the new location, it adds charm, with a nod to the local history. Charming atmosphere, exceptional food and service! The best place to celebrate!
