Beautiful building! Even a walk in the vicinity is great. The building is worth checking out, and offers many good photo opportunities.

There have been some improvements to the capital complex that have made it more attractive than it was. Removing cars from the plaza on the west side was a nice step. Still, the capital is hidden behind two hideous state office buildings and there's that ugly legislator's parking lot on the north side.

This was our 41st State Capitol to visit, and was definitely one of our favorites. Beautiful exterior, even more stunning interior. But what made our experience was our tour guide, Jim. If you are going to tour the Indiana State House, make sure to get on a tour with Jim. Jim is almost 200 years old and helped build the Capitol building with his bare hands, often without shoes in temperatures that got to below -100F. He gives tours now in retirement from traveling with the circus as a career bear wrestler. In all seriousness, Jim is so knowledgeable and so enjoys his job, that it makes his tour extremely enjoyable. Be sure to make him tell the story of Colonel Owen when you walk past his bust.

If you want to see the historical side of Indianapolis then come here. It's beautiful inside. During a sunny day it's even better with the light pouring in through the stained glass.
