Pretty solid pulled pork sandwiches, tasty - still pricy at 15$ without being really special. Good service. Overall you pay more for the Beach view then for the extraordinary food as such
Rented out back room for wedding rehearsal dinner! Staff, food drinks, are great! No joke.
We came here on one of our regular visits in Santa Cruz - for some reasons we never noticed this restaurant. It is conveniently located next to the wharf / Pier and the boardwalk.
The seating area offers a view on the beach and the wharf which is a beautiful scenery to observe on a nice day.
There's an inside part which can be rented with a bar for private events.
The staff was very friendly and answered the questions we had. They seemed to be happy to work there.
While being in the most touristy area Santa Cruz has to offer it still felt like a more authentic place than all the other restaurants nearby.
We were there twice in the summer and found the seaside setting very comfortable.
Kristine provided excellent service in both occasions and she was very friendly and attentive. Truly a 5 star star waitress.
The food was good and the price was reasonable.
I enjoyed the food and location a lot. The huge issue I have though is the service. I have never had worse service in my life. The server was not accommodating, constantly condescending, and told me several times he didn't really care about my concerns. Was rude to my grandfather and brother to the point I had to tell him we would not be talked to that way. The place is great but they need to invest in better workers.
Super convenient spot to be dropped off near the Boardwalk since there is a loading zone directly in front of the restaurant. Don't bother walking all the way down the wharf looking for a better place to eat. This is your spot. Great people watching from the deck as you listen to the waves crash on the beach just a few yards away. We tried the $15.99 Friday prime rib special. It was ok.the garlic mashed potatoes that came on the side were the star of the dish! Next time I think I will just get the potatoes. Their clam chowder is very good too. It has won the annual clam chowder competition at least once so I'm not the only one who thinks it is above average.
We came in with 2 families with a total of 10 of us. We were sat right away which was nice; however, nobody was sure who was supposed to be waiting on us and approximately 4 different servers came up and asked if we were being taking care of but nobody actually did come for quite some time. The food was pricey and completely not worth the price. We couldn't split the check because "we don't do that." The waiter forgot to put one of the kids' orders in and everyone was almost done eating before it even came. We did ask for a discount only the kids chicken strips because the waiter forgot to put it on but again we were told "we don't do that." The soda was flat and tasted almost stale. The steak I ordered was chewy. Completely not worth the money. Do not recommend.
I took my good friend for dinner on Thursday's Birthday Night & his dinner was Free!! I just paid for mine!! The Food was really Good too!! This is how it worksso say if your friend has a birthday that month, go there for dinner on the "Third Thursday" of that same Month & their Dinner is Free!! You just pay for Yours or he can pay for Yours!! Such a Great Deal these days!!
I went to eat a delicious shrimp cocktail with my friend and my daughter. It was a wonderful experience. The environment was great the food was awesome and a little bit pricey but it was okay it was worth it all the way.
Some friends and I stopped in for a quick drink and a small bite before we proceeded down the Boardwalk. While the mixed drinks were on point, the appetizer we shared is what we will always come back for and that is the Roasted Garlic & Brie.
I know, it sounds plain and uninteresting. You couldn't be more wrong. The Brie comes out slightly heated and melty. The Roasted Garlic is perfectly spreadable and delicious. It is accompanied by Grapes, Apples, Strawberries and a sliced Baguette.
We all focused on the appetizer more than our drinks, which is a feat of its own.
We will be back to have it again plus trying other menu items. What a surprise!
My wife and I have been here three times so far. The staff is always friendly, and the food is very good. We get drinks and appetizers usually, which seems to be where they excel at most. Some of the plates weren't perfect (didn't like the clams) but that was a matter of preference. Overall the sandwiches, prawn cocktail, sangria, lava flow, nachos, oysters, and fish tacos have been a home run. Will definitely be back.
It all started with a beautiful morning in Santa Cruz, enjoying the crisp ocean air with two friends. Sounds nice doesn't it? Well, until we decided to go to the 'Ideal' (scoff) Bar and Grill. My visit here resulted in my worst ever case of food poisoning, which included two trips to the hospital, they had to nurse me back to life. Now, it's understandable that mistakes happen, however, it's the restaurant managers' response to my suffering which compelled me to write this review. There was no sympathy, he was actually quite rude. He began to tell me, "If we refunded everyone's meal who got food poisoning here" catching himself before further implying that it happens often enough it would be a financial drain to them to fix it. Now tell me, is that the kind of restaurant you want to be eating at, bringing your family to? Not me. I will not be eating at this restaurant ever again, and I highly suggest you also do not. In fact I will be seeing them in small claims court later this year. Thank you for reading, I hope you find better food out there than these people can provide. :)
The ideal espresso bar is precious! It's walking distance from the boardwalk and its a quiet area with seating around the entire building to enjoy the ocean view. They have breakfast sandwiches and burritos, coffee beverages, and ice cream. I loved it! The outside seating is perfect to enjoy your goodies and the service was great! I will definitely be returning.
