The staff here should be ashamed of themselves! They told one of my bridesmaids that they do not carry samples over the size of 12 so "trying to look for anything here would be useless to her because she's clearly over a size 12!" They also told my bridesmaid that even though they are listed on the designers website to carry the brand dress for the bridesmaids gown, they don't actually carry them in store! What kind of business is that? Why list yourself as someone who can carry these dresses, if you're not going to be helpful at all in trying to order said dress. They were also very rude and disregarded all of her questions, as if they had better things to do.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!
The staff was unfortunately not as pleasant as I'm used to when in any kind of retail store, speciality or general retail. I didn't realize their stores do not share a system, therefore I didn't realize I needed to know the store my bride bought her dress at in order to get measured for and order my bridesmaid dress. That specific issue isn't the staff's fault but where I am giving a low rating is how unhelpful they were. I had to start calling and texting the bride, her friends, and family to be informed which store she went to when the staff only called one store to assist me. They had an attitude that said to me "we don't care that you're planning on spending money here, we aren't going to help you with this." I understand why they don't do free measurements, but it could have been helpful to aid me in calling the sister stores while I was searching for the information and going to call their sister stores as well. They were very pleasant once they know I was a customer, like I said I was, but that didn't change how cold they were at first. If I had been wrong and my bride was located with another brand, that would have been my fault, but they would have at least provided good customer service and known they did the best they could to help someone.
Fairly large selection. But I would have preferred more help trying on the gowns. You also can't take photos here, so there wasn't really a good way to look back on the gowns I liked after I left. I traveled from Madison, WI just for the day, I shopped on a Tuesday and they invited me to come back on Friday, if I wanted to take advantage of a sale they were having. Take that for what it's worth.
Just awful!!! I wet there despite of all reviews because my friend had good experience there and because I really liked the dress. But after I received it I was regretting going there! First of all it came in size 8 when I am barely a 0!!! And they told me it is the right size and offered me a $100 off of the alterations!(well the whole dress had to be taken apart and put back together). When I went and found my own alterations lady(who did a great job by the way) she told me that the dress wasn't even brand new and that it had lots of stains that are only noticeable when you steam it!!! After I looked closer i really saw it had bunch of stains! Luckily unless you know about it you won't notice it, so I still ended up wearing this dress for my wedding and it was fine. But it was a HUGE disappointment with the store. I am definitely going to contact BBB.
ZERO STARS. Has anyone filed a complaint with the bureau for better business?
I ordered my dress September 2016 for my wedding May 2017. I called several times to check the status of my dress, and no one ever returned my call. I eventually got a different dress because I could not get a hold of anyone at House of Bride Chicago and I live out of state. I never heard from HoB until I called today to get my refund for the deposit since my wedding was last weekend. The manager told me they left me A voicemail in January WHICH THEY DID NOT, and that my dress was there. She had the nerve to tell me I owe the balance on the dress! She also refused to give me a refund, and the salesperson who helped me originally no longer works there. This is robbery.
Ok, well first off they lie. They tell you that you are ordering a "Bill Levkoff" chiffon dress then you end up with a "#Levkoff" knock off dress 100% polyester made in China. I wouldn't have cared however they tell you that they need you measurement because you dress is going to be "custom dyed" with the entire lot of other dresses. Also a lie, the dress is. It dyed it is a gray polyester dress off the rack. I don't know why they needed measurements because they just send you a random size that your measurements should fit into. The bridesmaid gown I just received (with a $50 coupon, also a lie) is much different than the photo, the straps are much thicker and the top is so large it falls down. I will have to get it altered, which is fine however the double charged me shipping so my $150 dress was $215 before alterations.do your research, and brides beware.
Charlotte, the consultant for our Bridesmaids appointment, was unreal! After going to a few different places which tried to rush us in and out in under an hour Charlotte was able to give us the time that we needed. She helped to come up with a design concept for the whole bridal party (13 Bridesmaids/Groomsladies in total which was as overwhelming as it sounds). And to (2) help us find a variety of style options that go together but accomodate all of the different body types. Thanks!
I had a great experience here! I just left my first alterations appointment. Girls are so nice and helpful. Thank you Tula and Nidia for finding my gown! My bridesmaids dress will be in next week and can't wait to see them. I don't know why people write nasty things on this family owned business? They have gone above and behind for me and my family.
Went there today to get an idea of the dresses they carry BEFORE I made an appointment at this 2 star location. Well, I was told I could not look at the rest of the dresses in the back showroom because I need someone with me to look at them. I understand that, however there were TWO women there just digging in there butts, acting like they were doing stuff. It would've only taken about 3 minutes for me to just look at the other dresses to see if I'd actually wanted to spend my money here. Based on the reviews, though, most likely not. The customer service just seemed terrible and whoever the manager was or who I talked to, was extremely rude.
My experience was great ! I was coming in from out of town, as well as the rest of my group and The house of Brides was very accommodating. The only issue was one of the secretaries that I spoke with. We were running late for the appointment that was supposed to last 90 min (as verified by email) so I called to let them know. When I told the secretary, she responded to be my saying "Well your appointment is going to be cut short because we have another appointment at 12pm" That would have made my appointment 50 minutes, instead of the promised 1.5hrs.
After she told me this, I repeatedly told her my appointment was 1.5hrs because that is what I was promised, and she gave in.
After that was over-- I met Sherry. Sherry was my dress consultant and was absolutely amazing ! She pulled dresses that fit "me" and what I was demonstrating that I liked. She was very kind and understanding of how stressful the dress shopping process can be.
If I were to go back to Chicago and dress shop- I would definitely go back.
