Forward: The hotel is currently under construction. This was mentioned frequently while booking and during our stay, which was appreciated. It did affect my stay, but it won't affect this review as the staff were very vocal about the situation. Hotel Urbano is located just south of the Brickell city center and near the bridge to Key Biscayne. It is a small, easy-to-miss boutique hotel on Brickell Ave featuring average sized rooms and fair prices. There is no parking and so you must valet your vehicles during your stay, which is pretty typical for Miami. When we checked in on Christmas Eve we were attended to by a very welcoming concierge and a professional, helpful valet. They both asked us about our trip and holiday plans, and made sure we had everything needed as we settled into the room. We were supposed to have a pullout, though our room lacked it. The concierge quickly brought a rollaway need to our room with help from the valet, which was impressive as I don't think he worked for the hotel directly. He just wanted to be helpful. The bathroom was spacious, clean, and well stocked. The bed was clean and comfortable. Our AC seemed to work inconsistently and the settings I would change on the digital display would revert back to defaults at odd times, causing to room to become too hot. This was sporadic, and we weren't in the room often enough for it to be a nuisance. There is free breakfast in the lobby every morning, and it is a typical affair. The only hot food is bagels and toast via a toaster, and waffles (the best part of every hotel breakfast, though naturally there's a small line to make one). There are no hot eggs or meats though, so for protein you're looking at the various selection of yogurts and hardboiled eggs. All in all it was a good experience and I would book again in the future. The staff made me feel valued and taken care of. There are minor maintenance issues unrelated to the construction that could be fixed, and the vending machines are very overpriced on site, but it didn't detract from my stay.
DO NOT STAY HERE, I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE. If you enjoy the comfort of a construction site, this is your place. Otherwise stay away! Your marketing department deserves a bonus. If you are going through a major renovation, you MUST disclose that online not after i travelled 500 miles to get rest before my international flight. And if you want people to stay here, offer a discount for all the hassle, because charging the same that the atton for motel 6 accomodations is definitely not cool.
To start with due to renovations the hotel is nothing to look at. By the way renovations start at 7AM, so if you are planning any late night outside, think again with the 7AM hammering and banging. Mandatory valet parking for $30 extra, due to no parking at the hotel and then having access to public parking with no security. With that, the valet missed placed my keys in the 4' x 2' podium and who was convinced that I never gave him the keys. Through the search I found them on top of the podium in a box for all to grab instead of the locked cabinet. Thank god that he was watching me or he might have thought that I placed them there and then apologizing when he remembered that he put them there. Once inside your room although small is adequate. Breakfast is a continental style, cereal, muffins and waffles you make. I am sure that in the future after the renovations things may be better. For now no bueno.
Possibly a mistake to book here we'll see. What a huge mistake this was. Not going to even give this place a thought till they have the renovations complete. Generators/ pumps running all through night, the hottest the shower would get is luke warm, and the elevator gets stuck on the 3rd floor without opening I can go on with the issues
I want to start by saying how great the staff was they were just awesome. Brando was very helpful when we checked in answering all our questions with a smile. Both Brando and Kat (front desk) very helpful throughout our stay at the hotel. Elizabeth also very knowledgeable about the area, and Augusto also great always helpful & very sweet. The housekeeping staff just super awesome keeping our rooms nice & tidy. The beds were comfy something I find as a pet peeve when they are not. The breakfast the waffles & orange juice delicious um not so much the rest of what they had out for us to eat. The coffee was very weak as well not a fan of the breakfast as well as having to pay $30.00 a night to have our car parked. I will for sure recommend Hotel Urbano to friends & family all in all we had a nice stay there even with all the construction going on at the time.
Nice simple place to stay. Close to the highway and on route 1. It's being renovated and big addition is being built now. The room is clean and very nice. The pool area is the best I have seen in a long time. I could stay out there for days.
I only stayed at the hotel for one night but it was just what I needed. The staff were so friendly, particularly Fernando who went out of his way to ensure my short stay was perfect. It was just what I needed! They were hugely apologetic about the building work taking place on their hotel, but it hardly impacted my stay. The bed was so comfortable, like sleeping in a cloud and the bathroom was lovely with a huge shower. I wish I could have stayed longer, but will definitely return to the renovated hotel if I visit Miami again!
Thank you so much Hotel Urbano.
My room view of the city was a view of the city parking lot that housed the homeless. Carpets were dirty and stained. The direct TV service only had 5 channels not one local channel to find out more about the area for a visitor. No premium channels as advertised. Tried to use the business center the printer did not work. From the pictures on the website it looks like a beautiful hotel. It was anything but. I will say that the staff were excellent very friendly and helpful. I understand that part of it is under construction but that is no excuse for the issues that I reported.
Hidden gem on Brickell Ave. 2 blocks to I-95 makes access so easy. Great rooms and we love the staff. This is our second stay. We'll be back.
Had a great experianne here so far, the pool area is lovely and the location is great with a convenient free trolley that stops right outside. The staff was very good to us, we got off of a cruise early and came by the hotel will before check in (about 11am) hoping that they could hold our bags until check in so we could go sightseeing. They actually were able to get us into a room that early and were very understanding about the entire situation.
Edit: We did have a poor experience the day we left because our room did not have hot water for showers. We were catching an early flight home and the overnight staff said there was nothing they could do until the day shift came in at 8:30 (our flight left at 8, so that was impossible).
I recently stayed here on the night before my cruise. I arrived at 1:30 and was within my room in 20 minutes. The staff (Claudio and Brandon) were extremely helpful, directing me to wherever I needed to go. The pool area is very well kept with plenty of seating and a fire pit. The hotel was in a nice area with free trolley service right outside to the downtown Brickell area. We had dinner and walked around there; very pleasant. Would definitely stay here again!
Nice little hotel with a great staff. The staff was the highlight of this hotel. They greeted us by owning the door, welcoming us each time and offered assistance as needed. The cleanliness in the room was the only negative. It wasn't a deal breaker, but there were some issues. I would stay here again.
