It’s a charming hotel that’s has become THE landmark on SoCo. Rooms can be pricey but you can totally catch a deal. The staff is always amazing and the rooms are well designed and comfortable.
Gosh, I love this place. Rooms are rather modest, but it's the general atmosphere, and all the things going on. Life music in the evenings, chill feeling as if you were away from the city. And lots of great food in the adjacent streets.
A great stay! Cool vibe, great service, and smack dab in the middle of everything. Casual and laid back with all of the perks - small pool, small bar, very nice party patio, and neighboring coffee shop.
Sorry I butt dialed a 2 star review on accident. But I a actually work here and it's amazing. 5 stars all around
Most definitely the first boutique hotel that Austin had to offer, The Hotel San Jose has set the bar of what coolness should aspire to be. The vibe is chill and unassuming, yet the attention to detail from the welcome basket inside the rooms to the gift shop is something that all of the shops and newer hotel offerings strive to be. I’m a local and I love hanging out in the back patio for drinks, snacks and the best people watching. One of the OG gems of South Congress.
Every single person here was so lovely and helpful. Such a unique experience. We loved it!
Best Hotel in Austin! If you want to get a true sense of what Austin is all about, you'll find it here. Tucked in a space right off busy South Congress, Hotel San Jose somehow managed to create a quiet and relaxed Oasis.
There's a central patio area where drinks and snacks are served. The hotel is dog friendly even going so far as providing beds and bowls for your four legged friend. Every room has either it's own outside space or a shared public space so you can get out of your room and enjoy the shaded property. There is a pool on the property and while on the small side, it fits well in the space and adds to the feel of the hotel.
The staff has been friendly and accommodating on both of the stays we've enjoyed here. Pricing can vary and lean to the higher side but it's worth it for the unique experience the hotel provides and the access you enjoy when staying here.
This is my favorite hotel in Austin. I am in town 2-3x a month and stay here as often as possible. It has a small intimate feel, like you are at a private resort with friends. I have stayed in all of the room types and have never been disappointed - although my favorite is room 35. There are small sitting areas in the beautiful courtyards to chat and mingle. The hotel is located right on South Congress, but you would never know it from inside the walls. Nightlife is walking distance all around, but inside, it is quiet enough to rest in your own thoughts.
I can't say enough good things about this place. Tonight, they did something special that made my night and it was time to share my thoughts on this hidden gem in Austin.
Stopped in at the bar for some frosé with friends. It's a fun drink in a great space. Definitely paying for the novelty of the drink and that not many places serve it. Drinks sometimes need to be ordered at the bar inside and other times a server still come out. Either way, the staff is always friendly.

We attended South By San Jose to see the band Temples this year, and we really loved the environment and the music! I would definitely come back to their events, the venue was clean and accessible but also had a lot of interesting charm to it. Falling right into keeping Austin weird while retaining professionalism, sign me up. We also didn't have to wait for an extraordinarily long time, which is so refreshing for SXSW.
