A marvelous feat of engineering! The Hoover dam is a short drive from Vegas, perfect place to get out of the city and see the surrounding area.

Parking is $10 in the garage, well worth it to avoid the nearly 3/4 mile walk to the Visitor’s Center.

The Power Plant Tour ($15/person) was a great way to go down in the dam and see some of the inner workings. The tour guides were knowledgeable and added a touch of humor to the tour.

If you want the full Dam Tour it is a first come first serve basis. We got there at 9:15 (opens at 9) and the earliest tour we could get was 12:30.

It is free to walk across the top of the dam, you can even stop in one of the bathrooms at the top.

The staff was friendly and made the tour we took very enjoyable and informative. They allowed plenty of time for photos while keeping things moving. Highly recommend visiting it.

2022.01.18. My son and I visited Hoover Dam while in Vegas area. It was only a half-hour drive for us from the Henderson area. The views were amazing driving through Lake Mead National Park on Lakeshore Rd. If you don't have a National Parks Pass it costs $25 to drive through the park. Or you can take I-11 to the Dam and not pay any fees if you don't have a park pass. We toured around the Dam and walked across the Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge alsowell worth the views of the Dam from this bridge. We were fortunate there was only a few other cars out and got to drive across the top of the dam 4 different times!! This is well worth the stop and views!

There is a lot going on here.
The official visitor is 10.00 to get in and they said it was a tour. Heavily guarded and scanners. If you only want to buy stuff like we did. There are a couple of different gift shops and cafe. There is a lot to offer in the gift 🎁 shops and a nice fairly big area inside and outside to have lunch. Bought my wife a big 👜 she loved it👏

Nice engineering work. Great place to visit. You can see the Dam and the new bridge. There is free parking on the Arizona side . Short walk and other view points.Lots of New development from the last time I was there.
