This is a great spot to launch a canoe or kayak from. You can paddle up the White River from here if you have the energy or paddle up a flatwater side passage / bayou. It's a bit if a carry down to the water, but the stairs make it manageable.
Hilt’s Landing is located about a mile north of Holton-Whitehall Road on the White River. To find this spot, take N. Durham Rd. at the Comfort Inn, the road travels pass Michigan’s Heritage Village, continue north eventually the road turns into little more than a 2-track. Amongst the forest, views of the White River appear. There are no park or street signs to be found, but eventually if you watch closely, a stairway leading down to the White River can be located. Once at the base of the stairway the views of the White River are quite beautiful. This is a remote location, hiking or a four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended.
