  My memory of Helen was much nicer than what we experienced. The town lives on the concept from many years ago, and is run down,stores open & close when they feel like it. Food is good if you eat at non german resturants. Came to Helen for the Christmas vibe but very disappointed. Surrounding towns have better decorations, stores and food. I will not recommend Helen to anyone until improvements are made. The town has lost its charm and appeal. New stores & businesses should be allowedallow to aid in the survival of the town.

  Tourist pit, everything is compartmentalized, nobody let's you use the bathroom unless you are having a meal or sleeping there, and they get offended if you even ask. Not welcoming, we left the town and will not be back.
  
  Hey Helen, why do you just hang a sign on the main road that says "Spend money or f*** off."

  This was your standard visitor center but with a charming appearance to match the town's German vibe. They had a wide variety of information available regarding the town and surrounding area. The lady that worked the front desk was extremely helpful and kind and gave us great suggestions on how to spend our day trip to Helen. She was knowledgeable about attraction locations and distances and times of operation. I would definitely recommend stopping in for some info to plan your day. Also of note, the restroom was clean and well-stocked.

  Helen has gone to crap. It use to be Christmas year round. Now the Christmas shop are kind of weird cult book store.
