It was our first time visiting this restaurant. I loved my dinner meal - chicken piccata. - cooked to perfection- chicken was moist and tender, sauce was perfect not too thick not too thin- just the right amount of lemon flavor. The roasted potatoes were excellent and so was the squash. The hot rolls were great! I love the quaint ambience - reminded me of a New England restaurant. HOWEVEr on the down side my husband didn't enjoy his sirloin steak.
He's an avid steak eater and has discerning taste and it didn't meet his expectations based on the reviews of this restaurant. He also was VERY disappointed in the French onion soup. It's his favorite soup- I have made it at home- and the waitress said it's one of their signature soups!! I tasted it and it could not hold a candle to my recipe. It had far too much beef broth in it and was too watery. The onions tasted like they were not freshly made - just not to his liking or mine! However service was excellent! I gave it 4 stars based on my experience.
Stopped for late lunch on a whim. Best place ever. Lunch was quiche and French onion soup for me and quiche and tomato basil for mom. Absolutely wonderfulnicest owner and waitress you could ask for. Dinner menu looks great..we WILL be back!!
We are locals and have been coming for a few years now. The food is always good and now there are craft cocktails which was a great addition! Its a quaint and charming atmosphere with a more sophisticated menu than you might expect.
The service was outstanding! The food was cooked to perfection and the atmosphere made me extremely happy. A wonderful place to add to your list.
Thanks to a recommendation from the concierge at Smithgall Woods State park we ended up at Bernie's for Mother's Day Lunch. Everything about Bernie's was AMAZING.. the food, staff, location and beverages! We drove from Atlanta for the day and so glad we did.. Thank you Bernie's for a great Mother's Day experience.
Holy smokes. Attended a rehearsal dinner here. It was awesome. Food was amazing. Service was snappy and sweet. Atmosphere was vintage but not too old. Shocked to find this quality in such a remote area.
It was the best Valentine's Day with our friends. The food was awesome and we even spent the night and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast the next morning. There is such a great atmosphere in this place and so comforting. Bernie was so welcoming and we enjoyed her stories and conversation.
Ignore the negative reviews by butthurt, whiny babies here. This is not your typical, walk in restaurant and they hold a lot of events. It takes a lot of work to prepare a restaurant like this to hold a special event. They take their events very seriously and take zero shortcuts. They strive for nothing but excellence. Bernie is a great woman and does a great job. My wife and I had our wedding reception here in 2014 and it was an incredible night for us and our 35 guests. The food is delicious and the service is top-notch.
