The corned beef isn't the very, very best, but the serving sizes are gargantuan and the service is excellent. People love this place. Then you realize that the corned beef is really, really good and you're glad you were there. If lucky enough, you will also get to meet Harold.
We got the Italian sandwich with cheesecake and fries. It was really good food but the only reason I didn't give it five stars is bc our waitress was ignoring us. She was serving everyone around but us and had a attitude. I suggest going there for the food but the waiters and waitresses aren't very nice and happy.
The portions here are massive, and when they say a sandwich feeds 1-3 people, they mean it feeds 3 people. One sandwich is breathtakingly large. The meats used are delicious, tender and fresh, and the pickle bar is a great addition. This is a great place for a group of friends to dine and to split the bill, as the price for one sandwich is high, but the amount of food you receive makes it a total value.
Massive, and delicious portions of classic Jewish deli to Italian classics make Harold’s a one-of-a-kind experience. Help yourself to the pickle bar (pickled tomatoes are great), then order an assortment of sandwiches and sides for the table to share. Be prepared to take half your meal home to enjoy again the next day.
Fun place. Recommend bringing at least 5 friends, getting their soup (matzoh ball) and triple decker sandwich (while it may seem pricey at first, you and your 5 friends will have leftovers for the rest of the week that are fresher than your local supermarket, making it a very good deal). Each time we are there, we try to get something different to see how they can surprise us each time.
hard too beat but for sure you are taking food home but great food. Will have enough for dinner tonight with family. Service is also great. Love the cornbeef and pastrami.
On our way up 95 and found this place just off the highway. So convenient. Pastrami was wonderful, even have a pickle bar. More family style because a sandwich would feed 2 people and it was priced that way. So good.
Deli like I remember as a young girl. Owner used to be part owner of the Carnegie Deli in NYC! Rye bread and onion rolls delicious! They have an amazing pickle bar. We were blown away by the portion sizes meant to feed 2 and more. Go hungry and/or with friends and family. Great old pictures on the walls.
I didn't realize how big the portions were until I was walking to my table. One "sandwich" can easily feed 3 or 4 people. The food was great. The only downside is that you have to want to eat the same thing as the people you're with, or really love leftovers. If I lived closer, I would definitely come back more often.
Recently went with a friend. The food was outstanding, service as so-so, price was a high. Basically every there is family style. We shared Matzo ball soup for 22 dollars but I had left overs for 3 more meals after. I got the grilled chicken lunch special, the only individual sized meal and still had left overs, there was a big up charge for cheese and veggies but it was one of the best sandwiches I ever ate. Cheesecake was good but nothing special. When I go again I'm thinking the 2 foot tall piece of cake. Overall, we shared soup, each got a lunch special sandwich, soft drinks, and a piece of cheesecake total was 90 bucks without tip. I'd go again but with a big group!
This is midway between where I live now and where my family lives, so we've stopped here a lot recently. The portions are ENORMOUS! Definitely a place to share at. The pastrami is delicious and I love the bread and butter pickles.
Portions are very oversized. Everything in the menu is meant to be eaten by multiple people so be aware when ordering. Everything here is always delicious and I love coming. The half sour pickles are amazing. Very sad however that they removed the three potato pancakes plate from the menu.
Nice looking place, good service.
You pay good money for the size of the plate you get.
Each plate usually serves more than one person, and can be up to 7! people for dish.
They also have some Kosher meat as well.
Definatly going to come back here soon 😋
This place is hit or miss. I wish it was better. Sometimes you come and it's crazy crowded & loud, other times it's totally deserted. The issue, is the quality of the food & service is directly effected by how crowded it is. I found the wait staff feckless. The food makes you feel like you're in a coma. It's too high in salt & it's super greasy. I've had good & bad $30 sandwiches here. It's a place that can't keep up with its own standards. It's kinda interesting how everyone is all caught up in the bright lights & pickle bar hype. It's not that good!
This is a theme park of Jewish (non kosher) deli. It's an experience everyone needs to have at least once. The portions are beyond huge. The pickle bar is amazing. All the food was simple but excellent quality. The food comes out fast and the service is efficient but lacks warmth and hospitality. I almost took off a star but I am so full I'm about to burst and the New York attitude is really just part of the experience.
