Went there for a GIANT pet adoption fair. Nice enough warehouse-like indoor facilities held over 1000 pets. Clean restrooms. Concession stand was closed, but they did have 1 soda machine available.
It's a family friendly place to go too. I wish they had a bigger variety of games to play. They had a lot of them but they were all the same type of game. Food was you're average fair food. Nothing amazing but nothing was bad. The rides all seemed safe to go on and they weren't that expensive as long as you got the ride wristband.
I had a great time. Although , it was a little bit pricey. I went on at least 7 rides. Some went. A little too high , but there were accidents reported. Some prizes were cheaply made. However, there was something to do for all ages. I would suggest wearing closed for shoes. Having cash and rem wrong where you parked. Overall a good experience. No one bothered me and my Fiance.
For starters, they've had the same rides and attractions since I was 12. I'm 27 now. There rusty and falling apart. I'm pretty shore thy got half there staff from her mental house. The price is way to high and there's to Many young and dumb kids just runny around. Thy need get some more security. We got kicked out with no refund because some crazy kids where shooting in the parking lot. No recommended for small children. thy really just need to condemn the hole fair.
Corn dogs, Turkey legs, Funnel Cakes, Cotton Candy. It's a place for children, not adults. Take your children. Start a family tradition. Have a small businessset up a booth and promote your company. Helen's Famous Fudge in the Exhibit Hall is amazing. Check out the 4 club for local gardening help and discounted plants. The armband is the way to go if you plan on riding rides. Visit during the week for shorter lines and less thugs.
Great fair, super secure, the police do a great job patrolling. This fair gets packed on the weekends, the weekdays are the best time to come without waiting in line.
I have been to many fairs, state fairs, national fairs and interstate fairs and the Jacksonville fair holds it's own as quality family entertainment and agricultural education fair. The grounds are kept clean, there are many facilities available and they are kept clean constantly by attendees.
At first glance, one may think that the fairgrounds is small and not realize how much there is to offer packed into downtown Jacksonville. There are many exhibits tucked away, such as a rare plant exhibit that is in it's own little hidden section. Good luck finding it. ;)
Ok. It's inside the building next to the ag building that has events going on daily with different cattle. It's an entire huge arena. Indoors. Totally check it out. Don't forget hand sanitizer.
There is bacon wrapped chicken on a stick. It's delicious, Right By the stage down the row from the most awesome Face Painting by the big oak tree at the center of the fairgrounds.
There is a guy that has the best kettle corn, His name is Henry. it's only a special batch he makes with coconut oil that is the most awesomely delicious though, I think he should make more of it and just charge more cause it's darn delicious. His regular corn is no
n-gmo, not sure about the oil. He is right Diagonally across from the Face Painting.
Cedar River is awesome, try their farm raised shrimp basket. It's freakin' delicious. It's also right across from the Face Painting.
Oh yeah, the Face Paintier is Awesome, she claims she can do almost any of her designs in 1:30 to 3:00, you should time her and tell her the results, or be amazed, whatever. It's a sight to see in and of itself. They are like.. Intensely amazing. She is known for doing the top fairs in the USA with her company FaceMasters, LLC!
They have firefighter shows, and free ice cream from the WB tent on the weekend. They have dog shows inside and crazy acrobatic clown shows outside. There were giant robots around the midway last year! Too much to list!
It was a good fair, come with your family and definitely bring cash because atm's are like $4 a pop. Just bring whatever is in your budget, I recommend around $100 per child for the whole deal, well, unless you follow my advice.
There's also a funnel cake ice cream at the corner down from the Face Painting by the Oak Tree that has great milkshakes. Real Milk and ice cream that is hand scooped and blended. For like only $4. Funnel cakes are cheap too. Very good though for fair food. They have been there many years.
The cheese steak people are clean and local and they deliver a quality product as well. The fried rice is pretty good in the asian trailer. Shish ke babs are always good.
This year my friends at the taco truck will be there. The 3 amigos tacos is awesome, chicken, pineapple pork and steak. Real steak.
In a corn tortilla with cotija and cabbage. Like a traditional taco. It's good. Their steak quesadilla is the best as well, it's even better with the green sauce on it.
The midway is the expensive part of the fair. It is fun but that is where the $60 of the $100 comes from. Best advice is something that has value like the Face Painting, it stays on all night and makes for awesome photos and memories. Imagine being a kid as a tiger going through a mirrored fun house! This is a place for kids to have fun above all else so remember that. It's an exciting and fun and family friendly fair, it also has the big rides that are crazy awesome.
Go this year! Make Jacksonville even bigger and it will expand into the stadium! Just keep coming. Attendance was larger than the state fair in Tampa last year!
Worst thing ever
Getting more expensive every year don't waste time and money.
Being cheated to win a $3.00 prize.
I see people spending hundreds of dollars for this garbage. Then the dopefiend vendors, all look like they are waiting on a hit. They call you MARK on purpose became guys what you are it. Mark means sucker or they think you look stupid and will play the games ,keep walking buy a sausage dog enjoy the funnelcake.
Very fun place to go
It was awesome seeing Foghat. Didn't ride any of the rides but there were plenty and the lines were not bad for food. Over all a fun time.
We had a great time, definitely worth going to during the week instead of the weekend. We went on a Tuesday night which was less crowded and they had a special on entrance tickets. Instead of tickets get the wrist band if you plan on riding the rides, each one costs about 4 tickets so you can only ride 5 for the same cost as a wrist band. Also there are farm animals which our kids loved especially the rabbits. Overall a little expensive but still worth doing for a fun family night.
