Best place to be laid to rest. So glad my mom is buried in a place almost as beautiful as she was.

Truly a fine resting place for those that fought in our stead. Cannot thank the crew and keepers at Great Lakes National for the care they give.

Arrived after office hours, decided to use automatic grave locator kiosk. It was OUT OF ORDER, drove long distance for nothing! No other alternative available to locate grave site. These heroes deserve better treatment!

My Dad was laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery last month. Although his loss was and continues to be unbearable, the fact that he is resting in such a beautiful place comforts our hearts. It's refreshing to see honor and respect being displayed by the staff at this facility.

Our family laid to rest on June 15, 2009 our beautiful Robin Marie Stokes. She was our baby sister.
Her husband is the Vietnam vet and she took great pride in his service to our beloved country. Whenever I visit her, I hug that white marble stone with her name on it. Tears come to my eyes to think that she is resting in a place almost like my vision of heaven. The geese flying above, the sounds from the trains on the nearby track, the flowing water in the lake, pine trees with the wind traveling through them, and the hundreds of heroes in each straight row surrounding and protecting her. She will not be at rest with the her family at Evergreen, but Great Lakes is very special. She
deserved such a wonderful peaceful cemetery for all time.

The area is so beautiful and the soldiers were not only professional but very sincere. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place and the people running it. Our father had the service he deserved. Thank you Great Lakes National Cemetery.

It's so pretty here, with a lake and woods to set a peaceful scene for the final resting place for so many families and veterans. It is quiet and serene, and sometimes you see wild visitors like Sandhill Cranes and Canada Geese.
